Orchid V4, V4+ Programing Tool Support

If your routing requirements are fairly simple, you might find it easier to just program the Orchid manually rather than trying to use the spreadsheet and modem to do it.
I wrote a doc all about programming the Orchid V4 some time ago so if it helps, you can download it from here:-
http://thespringers.me.uk/mse/V4_Dialler_Programming_Guide.doc
There is a so my sample basic spreadsheet here:-

I've just been in contact with BT to modify my options (e.g. removing BT Sport HD and changing my phone call options to free Weekend calls only).
I now need to modify my Lawry Excel program to enable my Orchid dialler to dial the new settings correctly but am at a loss as to how to do this.
Could someone please advise me how, for example, what I would need to change to allow my weekend calls to go through BT but my weekday calls to go through 18185. In particular, what changes are needed to the Pogramming Codes in cells such as D1 which currently shows as
(=IF(B5="","","*#**" & B5 & "*" & A5)
Thank you
You will need to alter ten Routing Rules and, assuming you're going to do that using just a DTMF phone, I detail below the necessary keystrokes (pick up handset before starting each and hang up between each).
*###*2*9#4110#01# (now routes local calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
*###01#3110#02# (now routes 01 calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
*###02#3110#05# (now routes 02 calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
*###03#3110#06# (now routes 03 calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
*###05#3000#07# (now routes 05 calls via BT at all times)
*###056#3110#08# (now routes 056 calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
*###07#3111#10# (now routes 07 calls via 18185 at all times)
*###08#3000#12# (now routes 08 calls via BT at all times)
*###0845#3000#15# (now routes 0845 calls via BT at all times)
*###0870#3000#16# (now routes 0870 calls via BT at all times)
Best of luck.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Many thanks to Heinz, shilcor and Lplates for your guidance and help. I'm hopeful that I'll make sense of what has been posted and get my spreadsheet modified appropriately.
I'm very relieved to see that the coloured cells change automatically when the white cells are changed.0 -
This is a further question about Heinz's suggested modifications to the Lawry spreadsheet that I need to do for my new BT settings (moving from free evening and weekend calls to just free weekend calls).
Heinz suggests that I alter ten Routing Rules and I think I could certainly use a DTMF phone to modify my settings.
I am, however, a little curious about the first suggested rule for local calls:
*###*2*8#4110#01# (now routes local calls via 18185 weekdays & evenings)
The Lawry spreadsheet that I am currently using (successfully I think) has, in cell G5, Local Calls described as *2*9 for that Call Type whereas your suggested alteration seems to show it as *2*8.
Am I mis-reading something here about the spreadsheet or should I be changing cell G5 to *2*8 or would it not make any difference.
Thanks again0 -
Apologies, you're right, *2*9 is correct (there used to be no local numbers starting with the digit 9 but that has changed so that Routing Rule needs to be updated).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Just a quick reminder that you can use your PC speakers to programme the Orchid using DTMF Dial. You can copy the cells from the spreadsheet straight into the app and dial from there...Jumbo

..and just a reminder (from my post a while back):
If this is the dial program referred to
http://www.dtmfdial.com/
then beware it installs some other (junk) utilities when you install it, even if you click to skip those bits!!
FilesFrog Update Checker
LiveSupport
Optimizer Pro v3.2
will also appear in your start menu programs list. They all have uninstall options in their respective folders, but I used Programs and Features (W7) to remove them. No telling if any bits have been left behind.
...and I've since discovered FilesFrog references in the registry which I've had to delete by hand...grrrrrrrr0 -
Apologies for that - should have looked back before posting...
I used Revo Unistaller to scrub my PC: it scans the registry and relevant directories and allows you to remove all those nasties. There's a free version which I used for a while, but I liked it so much, I upgraded to the "Pro" versionJumbo

I've just installed Norton after a few years of using MS's own AV, and its first scan found the ADH.2 Trojan within the DTMF downloader itself. I guess you should avoid it at all costs!Jumbo

Apologies, you're right, *2*9 is correct (there used to be no local numbers starting with the digit 9 but that has changed so that Routing Rule needs to be updated).
Oftel have come up with a new plan where 'local' numbers can start with 0 or 1, but to make a local call the full std code must be used.
http://www.area-codes.org.uk/areas-without-local-dialling.php
So someone in the affected areas ( 01202, 01224, 01273, 01274, 01642 and 01908 ) with the default programming of
*###*2*9#4110#01#
will find that local numbers starting 2-9 will still work weekdays and evenings as the orchid box inserts the std code, but not at weekends where the local number is passed to the default carrier.
I can't think of a routing rule that would work with local numbers starting with a 0, as the box would not know if 012345 was a new local number or an std code so it may be better to remove the local routing rule totally and dial the full number including the std code each time.0
