Why not simply get a passport since you would have to have one if you travelled outside of the EEC?
My passport expired 6 years ago, I have only travelled between Britain and Ireland ever since hence I do not need a passport for entry requirements. I should not need a passport for online check in, most other airlines do not insist on this. I do appreciate that I need a passport if I want to avoid the airport check in charges on Ryanair0 -
No you are wong on this, and the rottweiler is correct.
If one of the party is paying to check in, then i it will calculate it for everybody and the only way of avoiding this is book those who can check in online seperately.
I know for sure as I have tried everything to get round this and always have to do seperate bookings as I have an infant who cant be checked in online.
My apologies to rottweiler and others. I have posted this before and not been corrected. I have seen the screen where you are given the choice but didn't know when you tried to get past this screen the site knocks you back and says your selection is no good.0 -

Given the cost of a 10 year passport and the charges that Ryanair levy for not checking-in online, then I guess the passport would soon pay for itself?
Cost is not the only thing, it is a simple case of getting someone to countersign the Irish passport application when you do not really know the 'professionals' that need to sign it and living in a foreign city. This coupled with the fact that passport photo booths in Britain are not compliant with Irish passport photo requirements makes it a hassle to try and get a passport.0 -
My early experiences with Ryainair were fine - I was happy with the cheap flights and they charged very little for checking in bags.
Since then I don't approve of them:
* Charging to check in at the airport
* Charging to check-in baggage at the airport, even if you have checked-in online
* Charging for all debit cards except Visa Electron
* Charging extortionate amounts for excess baggage over the 15kg limit
* Reducing the luggage weight limit to 15kg
I used to have a Visa Electron card, but when that card expired, the bank sent me out my new one which was simply a normal Visa. I have no idea why they didn't send me a replacement Electron. It was really useful for booking flights with Ryanair, and I can't even do that for free!
My general conclusion is that Ryanair is only good for passengers who can check-in online and who only carry hand luggage, ideally paying for the cheap flight with a Visa Electron card.0 -

They will, by this, discriminate against people without internet access (25% of their check-ins do it at the airport). So be prepared to offer your computer to friends and relatives who can't do it on their own.Ryanair will also be able to reduce check-in staff to more or less zero. Another scam is the 'Ah, you seem to have mis-entered your passport number when you gave us details. That will be £50 please.' Check it out. And say no to O'Leary's latest get richer quicker scam.
Discriminate? What's discriminating about it? It would only be discrimination if their website wasn't set up to be accessible by the disabled - but I'm more than certain that it is. The fact that Ryanair view people who don't use internet check-in as an unneccessary expense is a good thing for those of us who are capable of using the internet.
I'm sure Ryanair will offer some sort of non-internet check in, although at a huge price. Which is fair enough.
O'Leary's strategy is to be able to offer flights for nothing. He's always aimed for this, and he might still succeed. If he can, then everyone wins.
Ultimately, you don't have to fly Ryanair. You can quite easily fly British Airways, Air France, KLM, Alitalia, LOT, Lufthansa, BMI, Easyjet, Flybe and more. It's your choice. You're free. From Poland...with love.

The books are sitting just there on the floor.0
