I suggest you arrange it in advance.

Indeed. It's double the price if you pay for airport check-in at the airport. Pay it online, in advance.

the only thing i could find is.. when i select Add Advance Passenger Information... and select my nationality as Ukraine... the system warns me that i will have to pay the check in fee at the airport... so i guess it IS possible, to select the online check in first, and then show up at the airport, and check in there.... looks like they wont have problems with it, as long as i pay the fee at the airport...

i would want to pay the check in fee now online, as i already know which flights i would want to take... but so far, i couldnt find that option online...

so what is the fee when paid at the airport ?

this is the message when i select Ukraine as the nationality

Important - When you made your booking you selected to check-in online
and confirmed that you were a EU/EEA citizen/national would present an EU/EEA passport or National ID card.
The details currently being entered are for a non EU/EEA document and online check-in is NOT permitted.
Please note that you will need to check-in at the airport and pay the applicable airport check-in fees.

Going to see if I can instead re-book us seperately for £3.75 each way, that way I can just pay for my own airport checkin (and get it refunded) and hubby can still check in online.

You shouldn't need to do that - even if there are two people travelling on a single reservation you can each check in separately online. In other words, he can do it using the existing booking without having to make a new one.

In fairness the rules are made clear when booking (you just need to look more carefully at the placing of the comma!) and again when checking in. They do refund the airport check-in fee though to people who aren't allowed to do it online, so you should be able to claim it back.

I'm really not sure what happens in this case. I mean, they offer to refund the airport check-in fee to non-EEA nationals, but you lied to them about which documents you have, which could invalidate your claim for a refund. I really don't know what would happen, but I suggest you pay the fee and try to claim it back anyway - the worst that could happen is they say no.

By the way, just out of curiosity, whereabouts in Ukraine are you from?

Sorry if someone else has raised this, but do we think we will still be able to send normal priced texts from the cabin up to the point the doors are closed?

i am from Kyiv (Kiev), i have no problems with paying the check in fee (may try to claim the refund, but that is really secondary), my MAIN concern though is that they allow us onto the plane... the reason why i lied about having the EU passport (which i can say that my English is not that good and i didnt understand that Ukraine is really not Europe, i thought they meant continent :) ) is that i wanted to buy more tickets and didnt know for sure which flights we will use...
so right now i need to make sure, my tickets will be honored when we just decide to use the airport check in.. i would of course rather pay it online, if its lower, but i couldnt find that option yet...

Depends if you're able to get a normal connection I suppose.

NEW SUBJECT: Online check-in when travelling FROM Alicante.

I've just tried to book a one-way flight from ALC-BHX. It won't let me book 0 bags and online check-in (OLCI)! Wants to charge me for airport check-in.

But, if I buy a RETURN (BHX-ALC-BHX), it lets me book 0 bags and OLCI for both ways!

Now, I don't think you can actually do OLCI at Alicante (haven't flown out of there with RA before - only bmibaby) - will I get charged when I turn up at the desk?

Can anyone speak from personal experience?

    That makes sense. :)

I very much doubt they'll refuse to let you on the plane. EU nationals who forget to check in online are still accepted if they pay at the airport, so I see no reason why they'd stop you. In any case you're offering them money, so they're not going to turn you away!

Since you mentioned it I feel I must point out that your English is much better than that of most people in England (and indeed on this forum) - congratulations! And Kyiv is a lovely city; I very much hope to be able to return there soon. I want to make my own 'Bulgakov tour'...
