posted a card through Lady-Liberty's letterbox from all of the flyladies and gents to wish her a speedy recovery from her operation on the way there. It was all dark inside, and the drive was empty, so don't know if she'd made it back from the hospital (around 7pm) or not. Didn't want to knock in case she was in bed, so just posted it through.

Thanks for doing that sexy, lovely thought. I'd guess she'd be in at least overnight as it's quite a major op, unless things have changed a lot since my mum had hers (eeek that was well over 20 years ago!)

soappie - you're not evil, i think you're totally justified, i'd be furious if it was me. I used to have a housemate who had the heating tropical. We have ours on 18 and we have pretty much all outside walls and no heat from below as the shop doesn't have proper heating.

soappie it was the underhandedness I didnt like but didnt want to sound harsh - could you read your meter before you go out on a day that you know she is in to give you an idea of what she is actually using then you would have some amunition when you work out what she is costing in terms of fuel?

Toots - great minds - that thought has crossed my mind too - the meter readings. I'd have to be careful about it. The electric meter is in their bedroom! So I'd have to do it of an evening.... The gas meter's easier that's in the utility area.

Ooooh I'm not really liking myself at the moment. But something has to change...

  • I think you need to get the readings a couple of times otherwise you cant'prove' she's using too much fuel! And then you can speak to them and deal with it appropriately. be tough and put the rent up or they contribute what she is costing per day for elc/gas - it seem s perfectly fair to me!

I'd be 'balls to the wall' as my american friend says about it. At least in the first place tell her straight and then get onto reading metres etc if it doesn't get resolved. DH says we pay about £75-80 per month at the moment and that's for Gas & elec for a big 3 double bedroom flat.

  • Sexy what a lovely thing to do, thank you.

Soappie just tell em your charging more. You going to drive yourself mad with this... she's never going to accept your point of view... she's cold, your not, she needs to pay more. :D

SexyM - thanks for doing the card for L-L - that was really thoughtful of you. Do let us know when you hear/see anything....

Rach - balls to wall it should be but I've mentioned it so many times, I think it's now time to do the meter readings bit. Then present the evidence (you know me - I like to have evidence - I could even make a power point presentation or pie chart out of them :rotfl:) for discussion...

  • sexymouse - thank you for doing that :A I'm pretty sure L-L will be in overnight at the very least.

soappie - you're not being evil (I'm not sure you can be ;) ) Everyone knows how tough things are at the moment so I think you'd be justified in explaining your concerns and asking for more rent.

PC has been virus and spyware scanned and I am now off to bed. See you tomorrow for an HHC or two before football, if I get up in time :p
