rosepink well done getting Oh a bit more organised - if you really want to be more tidy then work on your own area first - only a suggestion remember but what if you restrict your 'messy' space to just the sofa or just beside the bed and work at keeping the rest tidy until it becomes a habit - it takes 21 days continuously for something to become a habit so give yourself a star in your diary - if you miss a day you will have to start over again- once you achieve that bit then cut down your area again until you feel in control then you could try to help OH do the same or maybe he might want to join you in the challenge and only mess up one chair and not 2??? as I say only a suggestion! you will find something that works - when you live in a bedsit you havent got a lot of space and you really need to be very disciplined.

MOF77 sounds like you had a great time - nice to hear you having fun!

soappie IMHO I think you have been patient long enough - its hard enough to cope with things at the moment the way the economy is going without others making life difficult through not thinking and/or laziness. I am sure you are charging them a fair rent and probably if you put it up it would still be less than what they would pay 'in the real world' so I think a rise is justified. I know it would be a plester but if your radiators have thermostats could you turn them down when you go out? As for the TD I would certainly be taking the fuse out and see what happens - the only trouble is you wouldnt be able to use it when either DS or DIL were around! Is there no chance of them finding a place of their own? But I guess too you would miss them. You are very good at making extra meals for DS's friends so maybe a rise in the rent would be a start. all this is just my humble views and I hope I havent put my big feet in it!!

SS thats great news about MR S'd eyes - well done in persevering with the remedy! Glad your IEP meeting went well whatever it is!!! :)

toots xx

ETA have totally emptied my wardrobe - cleaned it out and replaced the clothes and shoes neatly - have put all my summery things together in a garment cover to keep them out of the way for now. managed to get rid of one pair of ankle boots - now I am down to bare minimum of shoes.
Peace will be mine

• Thanks Mudders He'd really neglected his health, and it really showed in his eyes. But he'd pulled himself into line, and fortunately over the last 3 months his eyes have stablised

Sorry you'd had a wobble earlier. Life gets us like that sometimes eh??? We're minding our own business thinking we're doing ok, but then we get smacked round the chops with it! Glad you're feeling better, and I'll be really glad to hear about LL Do send her my love and good healing vibes.

Friday!! - Bathroom and study! All done!!:D:D:D
Level One
Level Two
Level Three

And more - now have sparkly bathroom, and also cleaned out the fridge before the shopping arrived.

I didn't manage to get back on today - DS1 posted my message, as DD needed me, and I ran upstairs and forgot all about it. I took her to the doctor's this afternoon - practically carried her as she felt so unwell. Nasty bout of tonsillitis -prescribed penicillin, paracetamol, ibuprofen. I'm doing the same as you nicki, trying to calculate how to fit all the doses in, on empty stomach, after food aargh..

Thank you to everyone for all the good wishes, I have passed them on to DD and she is touched you took the time - and I'm very grateful for the suggestions to help.

I'm switching the alarm off for tomorrow morning, and will try to sleep in a bit longer - bet I wake up at the usual 6.15. Off to watch a bit of TV before bed.

Hugs, chocolate, alcohol - as needed, help yourself...

• Hi,

Hope everyone is well & welcome newbies/returners. Since my last post I've washed up, emptied the bins & done more errands & am off to bed now. Goodnight!

Hi hun

IEP.... individual education plan. It's an individually tailored set of targets for a child with special educational needs. Sorry, I forget that not everyone has/encounters these. They're ( supposed to be ) regularly reviewed to ensure the targets are being met, and to keep everyone on track.

I am now about to have a mega rant. So bear with me, or ignore me, whichever you prefer. I have been trying to cut down my utility bills (£143 per month is not good!).

Soappie, you are not out of order, it is after all your house, and that is a lot to pay out per month (I thought mine was high at £89 for 3 of us, and I am a cold morsel too)

I would be tempted with the timer or fuse, but you should sit both of them down and explain that you can't afford to keep going like that, and that they either stop doing it or pay more. It's hard when it's your kids, but I'm sure your DS will understand even if DiL doesn't, and maybe he can get through to her where you can't...
Good luck hun x

Hard days work today, but we got there in the end - the show home looks brilliant, even though I do say so myself, but the stairs nearly killed me... :)

I have loads of my own paperwork to sort tomorrow, letters to write and confirmations to send, but then I really need to clean - it's getting bad again and I don't want it to get like that again - expect lots of HHC's on sunday... ;)

• kiwisaver awh poor you - you were doing so well with your lists too - you have 2 stars - I am sure the rellies are coming to see you not the house so try not to get too stressed - is it still hot and humid?

toots xx

It's not so bad and I'm not really stressed about it, just need to get my A into G. I let the last three days slip and it just goes to show how easy it is to get behind if you don't do a bit every day. It's just me and even if I had done all the lists this week I would still be running the hoover all around and fussing OCD styly. I mostly want to have every last scrap of the washing and ironing out of the way.

And the most annoying thing is I know my visitors won't give a toss what the house looks like, they will instantly trash everything, leaving all their stuff all over the place. My coffee table NEVER has anything left on it, except coasters and the TV remote - I guarantee within two days it will be piled high with papers, magazines, books and !!!!.

It's not half as hot and piddling with rain today, so perfect condtions for housework. Except my two little tikes (puddy tats) are in and out of the rain with muddy footprints all over the floors and furniture.

One of my cats loves water and getting soaking wet (strange one he is) and then comes looking for a lap to sit on to dry off.

• Well, definitely no stars for me this week. I was OK till Wednesday when I didn't get in from work till quite late and vacuuming the mattress was definitely out of the question - I sort of lost it from there.

I'll do what I can - I'll never do the whole list though

Rosepink - thankyou

Dusty - DiL has two birthdays - like the Queen! Her proper birthday and a birthdate that was decreed by the UK officials when she first arrived in the UK which is different because the Officials couldn't translate properly! She feels it's too much bother to try and change it now all these years on. And I fully understand her point on that. As to thermals I know she wouldn't wear them. They would not help her get the most out of her figure! She does occasionally seem to make a point by walking around the place in a thick coat because she's cold. BTW I'm glad you're feeling calmer. Don't stay up too late and most of all ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!

g&b - thanks to you too. Yes, I need to get tough.

SarahSh - I guess I've not made the point strong enough about the ridiculously high gas/lec bills. And the comparison with your family situation is really relevant!

Toots (no, you've not put your feet in it!)and Flyflo - thank you both - re the rent I charge. When I talked to best friend up the road and her husband the other week about it - best friend's husband turned round and asked if I had a spare room because he and best friend would move in immediately for that price all found ..... And my rads don't have thermos. But even if they did, I'm sure they would be turned up when I wasn't there then turned down again just before I came home...

I am now 99% certain I'll remove the fuse from the TD tomorrow when no-one's looking. Or, even better, take the bloody thing down the dump. I think a timer would be useless unless it's actually padlocked down and only I have the key!

But then, that means that if I want to use the TD for a strictly controlled 20 minutes I can't - not easily!

I think the real thing that's bugging me is the underhandedness and slyness of it all....it's tantamount to lying in my book...
