It was KAV I downloaded.

Kaspersky Lab releases technical preview of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7 from:

Could be the updater was off over the weekend?

Problem is I can't get Windows 7 to load now.

Trying to uninstall in safe mode produces the message:

"The windows installer service is not accessible in safe mode"

Managed to boot up Windows 7 using "Last known good configuration".

Uninstalled/reinstalled Kaspersky and attempted to activate as a trial but get message:

"only beta keys can be registered for beta product releases"

Have searched the Kaspersky site but can find no mention of beta keys and called Kaspersky UK support but never got beyond the muzak and I hung up after 30 mins.

If I try to "Activate later" it will not let me update databases.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
