It is called technological evolution - we must progress to the next level to achieve goals previously out our grasp. ;)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Well that was exactly what I was seeking enlightenment on. I'll ask you the question again then. What is it that is now out of our grasp that Windows 7 will bring into our grasp in terms of computing??

DatabaseError: I think your answer sums it all pretty adequately....

 Well, for a start Windows 7 has go-faster stripes, does that count?

Not much. It's a "fixed" version of Vista.

There are already operating systems out there that run a lot better than Vista anyway, so it's not really an innovation. I believe someone at Microsoft referred to it as "evolutionary rather than revolutionary".

Microsoft would be calling it Vista SP3 and giving it away for free if Vista hadn't proven so massively unpopular.

But, as ever with Windows, your loss is their gain I suppose.

...new kernel Marty, similar as all of its NT predecessors. ;)
