Does anyone know how get a curry stain out of a white t-shirt.
The top is a diesel t-shirt and its says wash at 30 deg C even though it is 100% cotton. Have washed it at 40 deg C with vanish oxy action to no avail.
The top does have a printed design on the front.
The top cost £40 and only been worn once, and now it has a nice yellow curry stain on it.
Any advice much appreciated!!!!

Think it's the turmeric that causes the yellow stain.
I would try some ordinary soap, worked into the stain and gently rubbed, possibly best to do this from the inside so as not to make the t-shirt go all bobbly.
Depending upon how close the stain is to the printed design, you could try a bleach/water solution carefully dabbed onto the stain (whilst shirt is wet).
Just make sure it is well rinsed out before re-washing in the machine.
If you use Ace bleach, do wear gloves, as it takes the skin off my hands.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I would try tamping it with oil of eucalyptus available at chemists. It is best with most stains particularly unknown one to try before you put it in the wash. Wash it then on a 30 degree wash. Good luck!0

I've been told that the best way to remove a turmeric stain is to first clean with methylated spirit and then place the object in sunlight. Apparently this destabilises the turmeric. I've not had to try this yet but the hint was given to me by a friend who is a curry demon so could be worth a go!0

No but I'd like to hear the replies as I've done the same. I've tried vanish liquid and its faded but still there - next is the soaking in vanish - but thats not old styleNever let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

try oxy but make it up into a paste i.e. just enough water and no more and spread it on to area where stain is. If the stain has dried it may take a couple of go's. Leave it 20 minutes then pop in washing machine at recommended washing temp with washing powder and another scoop of oxy powder.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Fresh curry stains - put it immediately into cold water and rub some washing up liquid into it. Wash as normal.
If it's already been through the wash it's harder and I've lost a couple of white t shirts to my dreaded clumsiness when eating, but I'd still try washing up liquid on it.
I have mentioned washing up liquid for getting rid of stains a few times on here so sorry if it's getting really boring! But I needed to wash my sofa cover last week and it had some awful food stains on it. I went over it dotting washing up liquid over every stain and rubbing it in a little before putting in the wash and it came out like new.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I've had curry stains on tablecloths that will not shift no matter how much washing they get. I've tried soaking and washing repeatedly to no avail and they are still there years later. I think its the spice turmeric in the sauce which is difficult to remove.0

Try a very strong solution of Oxy. Repeat as necessary.0

Try bleaching it - if it's got curry stains on it you probably won't wear it anyway, so if you bleach it and it goes wrong it doesn't matter. I have bleached a blouse covered in red wine (don't ask) and it came up as good as new.;)0
