first things first bettyr :grouphug:
im not self confident in the slightest, hence the reason i havent even tried looking for a class, and hence the reason i write on here instead. If you aren't happy with how you look it's hard to feel self-confident, which is why maybe we both are on this quest to lose weight? We think (rightly or wrongly?!) that once we are slimmer we will be able to be prouder of ourselves and more confident with other people - reading that back I realise how silly it is, and that we shouldnt only be proud of ourselves once we are a certain weight. I, and I'm sure you too, have done plenty to be proud of so far in my life, irrespective of my fluctuating weight over the years.
Maybe SW seems like a crutch, because you associate it with previous weight loss? and maybe you think that it was only because of SW that you managed to lose last time? Because as other people have said, the group support is available here and at SS, and you have to tell yourself and realise that you lost that weight, not SW, or the people there.
If you ever need to PM me feel free, or just keep posting here. Im thinking of you, and hope you realise that you are more than capable of losing the weight you want to.

Betty - Try info@slimming-world.com. I got this from the website. Don't be downhearted :grouphug:
I'm far from full of confidence, especially about my weight, in fact I would say that I am very self conscious about it. At the end of the day if I lose weight I will still be the same person that am now, maybe a bit more confident but still very thankful for what I have - 2 beautiful kids and a loving family.
To come on here and talk about a personal issue such as your weight shows that you do have confidence in yourself - SW will only support you one night a week, we are here for you 24 hours (well..you know what i mean)
Good Luck!
katia, I'm glad I was on the right track - my grey matter must have taken in some info!
Cheekymole - I'm off on hols on 19 April, so have the same motive for losing weight as you!0 -
Thank you Katia and Honey.
I am not self-conscious about my weight as I have less than a stone to lose.
I'm just not a self-confident person and I have always been rather timid. I'm glad to say that I have a very supportive husband though.0 -
Oops! Sorry honey. I forgot to thank you for the email address. I have just sent them an email.
Thank you.0 -

I clearly need to book a holiday! Have the fortnightly visit to see the boyfriend this weekend (long-distance relationships are a pain!) and we were planning on looking at hols so motivation here I come!
Betty - Exactly as honey said, posting on here is a big step, and I have found it a big confidence boost. It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to post, but I did eventually, and so did you. And you are talking (well typing) to complete strangers, and engaging them, and they want to write back, and already care about you. Building confidence takes small steps, but I see this as a big step. Posting on here to begin with was way outside my comfort zone, in case people didnt respond, in case i didn't say the right thing, but I did it - and no disasters (so far!). I'm not belittling your lack of self-confidence, because I know what it is like, but I am saying sometimes it is good to take a step back and look at what you are doing, such as joining Scottish Slimmers, and posting on here, talking to complete strangers in both cases, about some of your most personal worries, they are all pretty big steps in the right direction
best wishes to everyone

Thank you all for your kind advice, I think you're probably right that I am not doing myself any favours by not using all my points. I'll make an effort this week to use them all up and see if that makes a difference.
I have been adding my bonus points on when I exercise but I have often had more than 12 points left at the end of the week its just WW doesn't let you save more than 12.
I'll try using all my points and if that doesn't work I'll try the other suggestion of the no count option........not sure I'm disciplined enough for that. I'm having to give the gym a rest for 3 days as well because I can't fit it in round my shift pattern and the school run but I'll be back there on Thursday morning.
Thanks for making me feel better.0 -
Hiya all...... and welcome to all the peeps who have joined recently.

Thanks for the messages of support
Everybody was very nice and I managed to get 7 back issues of the mag at 20p each so I'm look forward to reading those.
Betty - I know how you feel as I'm not particularly confident about anything - even things that people say I do well. The least little stumble always proves to be a HUGE setback to me and I often wonder how others can bounce back so quickly.
I'm constantly reviewing what I've said to people in case I've offended them as I usually see something in the conversation that I think could be taken the wrong way, so I always think it will be! My poor hubby has to put up with me saying "oh dear, I wondered if I've said the right thing".
But after reading the posts that are on here, it's obvious that there's a lot of support from other MSE's - we all want to lose that weight, just doing it different ways. Please don't feel too despondant0 -
I get put off easily too. This week I turned up to my appointment with the nurse and it wasn't on the computer- even though I'd booked it in person. I felt my heart rate increase and was almost in tears. She had a cancellation so was able to fit me in but if I'd had to go away after a 2 week wait for the appointment I would have felt devestated and would have "treated myself" or should that be "punished".
I'm going for my 3rd physio appointment today and the shoulder is getting better. I'm hoping to be able to use my exerciser next week. At the moment I feel like a blob, I'm not even allowed to do ironing or hoovering & have to restrict my time on the computer as these things set the pain off again.
I'm looking forward to Friday and seeing how well we all have done!!
Cheekymole - If I was trying to fit into a size 10 I'd be over the moon, a size 20 would be great for me. Isn't it funny how subjective the matter of weight is. You are so kind to everyone on here it must take up a lot of your time so thank you and good luck.0
