Ally - Pm me your weight loss on whichever day suits you but I will post the TOTAL weight loss of all concerned on a Friday evening

Chris - good luck, we're all here to help if you want support and advice

My weigh in tomorrow - will I get a slap from each member?
(just to recap for those who may have missed it. I said that if I didn't reach my Club 10 by this week, each of my fellow SW members could slap me - so yes I have been good this week!!!!)
    I haven't got one!

Good luck for tomorrow Cheeky mole (nice to see your new mole by the way). I have lost my way for a bit. Hopefully I can get myself back on track. There has been so much going on in my life (I had a DLA appeal tribunal last Thursday because they stopped my son's DLA after 5 years, we failed to get the decision overturned, but it was a bit traumatic having to explain everything about my son for the tribunal board) , that we needed a drink and some munchies last weekend. Plus a few other issues ongoing.

Anyway, I put on 1/2 lb this week, not too bad considering, but I need to get my focus back. I NEED to get a job thanks to the DLA stopping, I have been trying for a while, I have had some interviews, but no luck with jobs. At the moment I am applying for evening checkout at Tesco. (I have been applying for Admin jobs) Hopefully something comes out of the Tesco thing. I want to keep up with going to Slimming World, but if the finances don't get sorted out, I might have to quit.
Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j

Welcome to Chris and Anne and any others who I have missed when I v quickly read over the lastest posts. Good luck tonight Chris at SW!

Anne - you say that you often have left over points. I think that is the problem - are you hungry? When you don't put enough food into your body it thinks it is being starved and holds onto what it has already got - hence maintaining the same weight. You should find that if you eat enough (of the right foods) that your body does as it should and burns off the excess - hence losing weight. I'm not sure of the exact biology of it (well I am, but i left school too long ago to remember!) but thats the basic principle. I know that the week that i didn't eat enough at SW i stayed the same weight, but when I ate more I lost.

Good Luck with the job hunting Sue - will keep fingers crossed for you. If you have to quit SW you can always keep it up online and weigh yourself at home.

yep honey you're pretty much spot on, literally studying all this today (or would be if i wasnt checking mse :p !)

If your body doesn't get enough food going in (of any type) it goes into starvation mode, and rather than burn calories, its technique for survival is to conserve as much as possible, because it doesnt know how long this period of starvation is going to last. Therefore as few calories as possible are expended. However, if your body is well nourished every day and your tummy is contentedly full with a good balance of foods it actually develops a higher metabolic rate because it can afford to without fear of starvation. Its an evolutionary thing, from when eating little meant that e.g. there were poor crops that year and there would be less to survive on for a much longer time period. Thats one of the reasons why crash diets never really work, and why healthy eating is scientifically the most logical way to lose weight. Sorry for rambling I just find all of it fascinating :o

good luck cheekymole! and hello to everyone that has just joined  (its nice not being the new girl any more :D )

    I am soooooo disappointed.
I started with Scottish Slimmers a couple of weeks ago but really wanted to go to sw but it was too far away. Anyway, this morning I decided it woud be worth it as I would feel more part of this thread, so I set off almost 20 miles but no class. I came back home and checked online and there was the class advertised, so it wasn't my mistake.
    Forty mile round trip?
    I'll not bother again! :(

Well, we're not all doing sw on this board, you might find that you can go to SS for the face to face support and pinch all the tips from the sw website. I'm just doing my own thing, not terribly successfully I have to say but at least I'm not gaining any more which is enough for me right now.

Can you email SW? Surely there's a 'contact us' option on the website?

and suewre, is there a local cinema or theatre near you? It might be worth asking if they've got any shifts you could do, less like hard work IMO! I don't know if that would work for your family, maybe not, but my son used to do 7-9 pm at our local cinema, sometimes longer shifts, and compared to checkout work I'd say it was a doddle! I presume you've been round all the little local firms with your cv, you never know what will come up that way? Good luck, even if this is completely off topic!

Thank you all for your good wishes, I'll post the results tomorrow either with or without a red face!

Sue, 1/2 lb after all you've been through - well done, pat yourself on the back, I would've been overdosing on chocolate!

Thanks LL and yes you can ask. I need a bikini body to hit the Tenerife beaches. I bought a size 10 bikini today to compliment my new (soon to be) figure so I'm totally motivated to actullay fit into it rather than squash into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks S_S
However, I would just love to do SW. I'm afraid I don't have the will-power to do it on my own and I do enjoy the support of a class. How pathetic is that? :( I am not a very strong person and I get fed up with myself when I see all the self-confident people on here.
I couldn't find an email contact for SW.
    Down-hearted.
