don't be downhearted, Glad, my once very tight trousers are hanging off me this morning, nearly lost them whilst walking the dog! I think there's more to be said for looser clothes thatn what the scales say....

never thought of the tape measure

Our SW consultant talked about this one night. She said that some people mightn't want to know their exact measurements  or some may not have a tape measure and so she suggests a piece of string. Mark on it or cut it to your measurements and then as the weight (and inches) fall off you will see it on your piece of string. cheap and cheerful!

Glad - I know you are frustrated about staying the same, but turn it around to a postive - you didn't put it on! I know a girl who stayed the same for 4 weeks, so almost gave up, then it came off in leaps and bounds, much to her delight. I had a bad week last week and put on - I've been trying really hard this week but just can't see it coming off at all.

    Hi Girls

I had a really trying day yesterday big emotional upset and allowed myself to eat Peanut butter, crisps & cheese -did it comfort me...NO I just felt bad about eating those yukky things. I'm back on plan today and threw the jar of PB in the bin. If I haven't got it I can't eat it. I had vegetable Pad Thai for lunch a bit of a bother but it was worth it as I love it and its free on SW Green days. I weigh in on Mondays so good luck to everyone for a good weekend.

Thanks cheekymole - I wasn't too upset by the food issue but by an unhappy event in the family which made me choose to comfort eat. Thank you for your support.

I have found that I can't always resist stuff like the Kitkats in the freezer so I just do not buy them anymore and PB will now be the same. One thing I do like which is not so bad just 1 SW syn is Ameretti biscuits. Great with a cup of tea or crumbled over a syn free yoghurt to make it a bit special. I love the SW receipe for peaches with quark a little ameretti liquer & ameretti biscuits= 5 syns. If anyone wants the quantities pm me.

Thats the way I was last week with the Chocolate cake, it tasted lovely but it left and awful feeling after I had eaten. I knew it was wrong, and I didn't enjoy it and I felt bad afterwards. The scales were enough evidence for me that I shouldn't have eaten it. I have been keeping that thought in my head all week every time I fancied a nibble of something naughty!

just have to try and work out where the uni health centre is
which would be a good plan in any event, in case you ever get ill ... Did they not tell you all about it in Fresher's Week and get you to register with a GP?

may also burn more calories walking to and from health centre than if the scales were in my room :j
A good idea which hadn't occurred to me, although it may be offset by the fact that usually you keep your clothes on when they weight you at a health centre, whereas I wouldn't dream of getting on scales at home in anything other than my birthday suit! :rotfl:

never thought of the tape measure, tho i've done it before, and i already have one of those at uni. Then at least i'd feel like i had something to post on this thread
And for those without a tape measure there's always that bit of string as mentioned later! And you can always post how many times your trousers have actually fallen down ... if it comes to that! Mine are a bit of a nightmare because I have to keep the string tied up much tighter than I used to (I wear joggers most of the time), which now makes it a struggle to get them down over my hips when I'm busting for a wee :o but if I leave them any looser then they start to fall down, especially with the weight of my work keys in my pocket!

I am off for a walk now, will pick up some grub and stuff for the kids ... put the batteries in my scales when I get home and see what happens! Didn't get to do it last time - but Sundays were always my weigh in days ... so it's perfect to start today!

    Well done to all :T

  • I have been trying to lose weight for about 7 weeks. I thought if I just ate less and made healthy choices the weight would just drop off but after an initial drop of 4 kg it has taken 4 weeks to lose 2 kg. This morning I realsise my calorie intake is higher than I have been calculating as I have swapped from black coffee to Chai tea with milk (to detox from caffeine) and realised I use 40 calories of milk in each cup of Chai and some days I have 10 cups! (minimum would be 5) so my calarie intake on Chai alone can be as high as 400 calories. Will now swap to skim milk and reduce Chai intake. Wish me luck!

I have found as other areas of my life are going well (including financial and work) I am taking better care of myself and the healthy eating plan has not been as painful as when I have tried to lose weight in the past (tried 10 times a year for 15 years = 150 times!).

I meet a freind twice a week for an hour long walk which I find a great way to get myself out of bed and moving as I don't want to let her down and I enjoy our chats.

Hope everyone has a great week and eats healthy

Thank you to MSE contributers who are a great help to keep me motivated to take care with my spending.
