I have had (I believe) 4 loans since 1997 ish onwards. May be more, as there were at least two for cars, and at least two that were for debt consolidation.
However, I don't have any of the original loan agreements.
I do however know that I had PPI on all but one of them. That was the last one, by which time I had realised that it was optional, previously I was under the impression it was compulsory.
I am still with the same bank, still have the same account number etc. Is it possible for me to claim, and if so, how do I go about it without the loan agreement details? Will the bank still likely have details given that it is still the same account, and will they share them with me?
I do believe it was mis-sold, as I was not made aware it was optional, and feel it was forced upon me. Being younger back then, I never questioned it, or the fact that I probably didn't need it as I was entitled to sick pay in my job, and also had privately purchased health insurance.

I still have the same bank account number, is this different to a loan account number? I do not recall the specific dates of the loans? I do know I started working for my current company in 1997, and took the first loan out some time the following year to buy a new car once I was settled in my job. Following that, there was one, maybe two, loan consolidations to cover the initial loan and credit card debts etc, standard early twenties living beyond my means. I just have no idea of dates, and loan values etc.

Where do I start? And can I even claim?

Requesting a SAR seems the first step, but how far back will the bank send info for? For reference, it is Yorkshire Bank I'll be dealing with.

Incidentally, I just found a bank statement going back to 2000, and it just states 'loan payment', no specific loan number? Most, maybe all, of my loans were prior to 2006, so if Yorkshire only send last six years, I don't think it will show up anything.
  • You can ask the Bank directly, but without substantial documentary evidence from your own archives you have little chance of success with PPI this old. On what basis would you complain?

I was told to include PPI to have a better chance of being approved
  • Hi can anyone confirm if they give the broker details with a SAR request.

I need evidence that i used a certain broker for the next step of my claim

    Thanks

Hi can anyone confirm if they give the broker details with a SAR request.
Nobody can confirm this other than the Bank. You'll receive everything they've kept on file for you for the last six years and (sometimes) more. There are no guarantees of what particular extra information you might receive, though.
You'll have to gamble a tenner to find out...

    Hi everyone,
I'm going to send a SAR letter to Egg regarding an old Egg Loan (2009 to 2011) and Egg Card (around 2005-2011)

I gather this is the right address:

    Canada Square Operations
    PO Box 4903
    Worthing
    BN99 3AR

Can anyone tell me the exact wording to write the tenner cheque to? I don't want to waste valuable time just because they can't cash it.

I believe the above address is where you should send your PPI consumer questionairre. Not sure this is the right place for a SAR to go? I have done a quick google and have found this address:

    Data Controller
    EGG BANKING PLC
    CITIGROUP CENTRE
    33 CANADA SQUARE
    LONDON
    E14 5LB

Could someone confirm if the above address is where the SAR should go please?

Why didn't you contact them on 23 October if you did not receive the details you needed and were promised.

You can't take this to the ombudsman.
If you've now filed a complaint, be aware the bank have 8 weeks to respond (or issue a deadlock letter). The ombudsman is currently taking in excess of 12 months to resolve banking complaints.

I suggest you contact the bank to see what happened. Perhaps they sent the details and you just didn't receive them? Either way, I'm sure they will help you is you ask them :)

Make a complaint to Halifax, and make a complaint ot the ICO.They'll 'encourage' Halifax to respond. Worked for me with Egg.
