When you were requesting the info from A&L did you write off to Santander or A&L? I think that's the mistake I am making I initially wrote of to Santander about this A&L loan.

I wrote to the A&L address in the Addresses sticky:

ADDRESS for Data Protection Act S.A.R.

    ALLIANCE & LEICESTER PLC
    CARLTON PARK
    NARBOROUGH
    LEICESTER
    LE19 0AL

Santander replied to the request though and it was VERY late (well over the 40 days they officially have to comply).
  • I Sent off my SAR letter and the £10 to Ulster Bank over 8 weeks ago, and as I sent the money as a postal order I was able to see that it hasn't been lodged. :/ any suggestions of what I should do next? I haven't heard anything from them at all. I am certain that I was paying PPI because I have a letter informing me of an increase to my PPI payments, could I just fill in the Ombudsman questionnaire based on this?

I also sent the same letter and £10 to Egg Banking and they have taken the money but haven't sent me anything.

Really not sure what to do next so any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

I have had another look and have come across 7 ulster bank statements which clearly show PPI being paid on the account, don't know if this means I can just send off the questionnaire, also where would I send that?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm very new to this!

Egg took ages to reply to my SAR request but I got the stuff in the end. Make a complaint to the ICO.

If you were mis sold the PP then put the claims in, complain to the ICO too regarding the data as markdavey said.

It would depend on the bank in question, if it was a lot more than 6 years ago and you have no information for the account then a Sar would be of no use to you.
  • its 15 years. I just want the loan numbers. how do you get thoses?

You can ask the Bank directly, but without substantial documentary evidence from your own archives you have little chance of success with PPI this old. On what basis would you complain?

    It can vary with banks.

With some they may hold data longer, but it's not guaranteed.

I received data going back all the way to the mid 90's last year, that was with Lloyds, and they also emailed back with some details as well.

For that I enclosed all my details, name, my current and previous address, date of birth.
If you banked with them, they can try tracking down your info by using the bank account number.
