Hi
I am very new to all this and feel positively stupid now realising I paid ppi to several companies without even realising!
I sent £1 to MBNA who I know I paid ppi to on their, and an Abbey cc,they have sent me the original agreement for their own card where I have ticked the no box for ppi but I have subsequently paid ppi! I am very confused as what to do next;I took the card out in 96 and paid it off in 08 therefore a SAR wouldnt tell me when I started paying PPI if it was before 06 would it?
I have no idea how I came to be paying it in the first place and didnt realise I was until all the recent publicity!
Can someone tell me what to do next? I have statements for about last 2 years that I had card!0 -

Dates are not important, as these will be checked anyhow by the Bank.

Hi Newbie here
Any help really appreciated as my brain is addled with all this info!!
I have an exisiting Capital One credit card opened approx 15 years ago (not sure of date, no supporting paperwork) - i know at some stage i paid ppi and asked for it to be taken off, and recall that they didnt follow my request for some months until i called again. I dont have paperwork so cannot confirm in the questionnaire when the ppi was stopped. Do i need a SAR to complete this type of information in the questionnaire, or can i leave it blank and let them investigate dates etc so long as i supply the account number?
This question also applies to the fact i dont have a ppi reference number - again should i complete a SAR to get this or just go with filing the questionnaire so long as i have the card account number?
And finally my main account is with Lloyds - again i have had a credit card also with them for at least 14 years, not entirely sure i paid ppi but feel i probably did at some point. Is it OK to complete the questionnaire and take a punt, or should i check that i paid ppi by requesting a SAR with Lloyds.
Soooo sorry to sound so thick lol!

I'm in the process of filling in the SAR template to request all my loan/credit card numbers and info from RBS and have just phoned my RBS branch to obtain the correct address for sending my request to. Is it okay to send in a covering letter with all my details as in name, address (including previous address), DOB, banking account and any loans/credit card numbers and dates I have or should I put this at the top of the SAR.
The girl on the phone also said I don't have to pay for this, I thought you had to include a cheque/PO for £10 or does this not apply to all?
I think I also read on here somewhere that because it's a PO Box I shouldn't send this recorded delivery, is this the case and should I just send it normal 1st class?
Sorry for the daft questions but want to get it right so they don't come back to me for more info.
ThanksThanks to all those who post the comps0 -
Send it first class and ask for a proof of posting, i think RBS do not charge for this, to double check, ring them back and ask again, if you have to pay you will be wasting time waiting for them to contact you and say you need to pay.
A covering letter should be fine, staple it to the Sar letter.0 -

RBS didnt charge me either they returned my cheque also I would send it special delivery for secure next day delivery and it wont get lost in the post I should know im a postie and I sent a letter to RBS normal post, recorded delivery and the letter got lost and the recorded never showed up on the track and trace system.0

Does not matter if you just get proof of posting, if this has to go to ICO (for a Sar) or FOS (for a ppi complaint) either of those institutions will accept the proof of posting as the letter being delivered the day after even if they did not receive it.0

Proof of posting is just a note saying it was posted, the other end just say they never received it and say it got lost in the post.
My experience for example with my recorded I sent to RBS never got signed for just thrown in with the normal mail, it happens in every sorting office I see it everyday in my office.
Thats the reason I sent it special delivery just to have that signature saying it was signed for.

Hello!
I'm hoping that someone can help me. I have already sent off a claim for a loan that I had and know that I had PPI on. I have had one other loan and two credit cards over the years all of which have been settled and I have no idea if these had PPI on or not. The problem that I have is that I can't find any paperwork relating to these and have no idea what the account numbers were, my helpful partner threw everything out when they were settled. Is there anyway that the banks can find me without these??
I have checked my credit report, which gives me details of the loan/cards by no account numbers. I have read that there should be 4 numbers next to the details but mine doesn't show these.
Any assistance would be very helpful as don't want to send a SAR off if they are going to come back saying that they have no record of me!!!
Thanks x0
