Hi can I clarify, when sending a SAR does that automatically tell the bank that I wish to make a complaint about the selling of ppi or do I wait for all the info to come back then send a letter to them?
Sorry just very confused

Hi there
Do not worry, many get confused with this and assume a complaint is made by requesting paperwork, and as Moneyineptitude says, it is actually assumed by banks/buisnesses that you are about to make a complaint because of requesting for your paperwork.
On stage 3 is the reclaim questionnaire you use to make a complaint, these were issued by the FOS in order for customers to make a complaint to the business they want to make a reclaim and who sold them the loan/account etc, and keep copies because if you were to make a complaint to the FOS later on you can forward a copy on to them, this will save time later on.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
That's great. The muddy water is starting to become clearer. I have the old account numbers but no paperwork.0

Oh ok I'll just send the questionnaire. My husband is adamant that his loan was front loaded after looking at some of the threads on this forum0

Hi, Having the account numbers help.
Give it a shot anyway, many on here have not had paperwork but were aware they were sold and mis sold PPI and have succeeded.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
I have been reading this thread for a while now and think I have ended up totally confusing myself.
I am on a DMP so fully aware if I was to be reimbursed it would go towards clearing my debt and that would be great.
I used to bank with the dreaded Lloyds, I had loans, current accounts and credit card with them.
I had already done a complaint letter (before I found this thread) about a very old loan that I knew I had PPI on and have received a letter to say they are investigating.
I have been reviewing some old Credit card statements which did have PPI but have have those back to 2009, this stopped after the DMP started.
My question is this do I need to send a SAR letter for the rest of the credit card statements or do I send a claim request?
Also if I sent a SAR letter would they also send me details of my bank accounts as I believe they have been overcharging on the bank charges?
Hope this makes senses to someone

For the Credit cards you only need reasons for mis sell and the card number.

Hi Newbie here
Any help really appreciated as my brain is addled with all this info!!
I have an exisiting Capital One credit card opened approx 15 years ago (not sure of date, no supporting paperwork) - i know at some stage i paid ppi and asked for it to be taken off, and recall that they didnt follow my request for some months until i called again. I dont have paperwork so cannot confirm in the questionnaire when the ppi was stopped. Do i need a SAR to complete this type of information in the questionnaire, or can i leave it blank and let them investigate dates etc so long as i supply the account number?
This question also applies to the fact i dont have a ppi reference number - again should i complete a SAR to get this or just go with filing the questionnaire so long as i have the card account number?
And finally my main account is with Lloyds - again i have had a credit card also with them for at least 14 years, not entirely sure i paid ppi but feel i probably did at some point. Is it OK to complete the questionnaire and take a punt, or should i check that i paid ppi by requesting a SAR with Lloyds.
Soooo sorry to sound so thick lol!0 -
Hi, I popped into Lloyds today regarding a loan I took out in 1997 (for which I had not kept any paperwork). The lady behind the counter looked up the details and confirmed that PPI had been paid. She then filled out a form on my behalf and will fax it through to the PPI claims department. This took five minutes. It is certainly worth going to your local Lloyds with as much information as you can - it seems that they are now making and effort to help! This also helps ease the pressure from having to make a claim yourself or sending in a SAR.0
