No, you can take take it right down to £0. It's just a normal current account, so if it goes below £0 and into overdraft it will still stay open (you will just be charged!).
Yes, re:keeping £1 in the account. I was wrong earlier, you do not need to keep £1 in there when doing a transfer. I have no overdraft on mine, but I must keep £0.01 in there when doing a transfer. It will not allow a zero balance.0 -
I wonder if, given the high interest account may end up as a Reward account, they're not allowing more than 3 accounts in total for now. Then, when your HIA swaps to the Reward, you'll have your 3?
At 10am this morning, two of them were active, and one was still pending.
At 11am, the third is now active and funded. So I have three reward accounts, plus a high interest account. I'll wait and see what happens when they migrate the HIA to a reward account.0 -
Do they give instant descions - to new customers?0

Does anyone know if this is possible?0 -

The account that I applied for (existing customer) on Sunday evening is now fully operational online. When it gets towards the end of the month I will stick a grand in then transfer it out to various regular savers. Painless way to get a fiver0

Did everybody know Halifax is offering a new Websaver Reward account to add to the reward range, in return for a maximum of 3 withdrawls a year you get the fixed rate of 1% for a year. I have opened one in case base rate goes to zero. but most of my web savings will go in the Yorkshire Building Society Varilable rate account with cashcard which offers currently a higher rate . I will be keeping a eye on the rates.0

Considering the base rate / savings rate differential at the moment, I'd doubt that everyone's instant access rates will be dropping to below 1%0
