I can't see how they could refuse you ... a Bank of Scotland Reward account is not a Halifax Reward account. They have different names and a different set of T&Cs (though seemingly identical!).
I agree but during the online application, it does ask what BoS accounts you have.
  • Not sure if this has been asked so apologies if it has.

Does anyone know if I can ring up and change my existing High Interest rate Current Account into a Reward Account? I don’t really fancy ringing around to change all my DD’s over if I can’t?

I understand I can just open one and move 1k in and out each month, but I am thinking I can use one for my wages, DD’s etc if I can change my existing account and open another to move 1k in and out off each month.

phone up and select the option for existing / servicing and you can redesignate your account your sort code and account number stays the same you will get issued with a new card but you can use your existing one until then

  • So will you get a new bank card for this account?

I already have a high interest account. I opened two reward accounts just fine and funded them with £1001 each, which I'll transfer back to a saver tomorrow. I tried a third and it says it is open, but "application decision" is pending - and I couldn't transfer money in.

If anyone is doing this by standing order so they do not have to remember to do it monthly, remember that you must leave a quid in any account with Halifax to keep it open. So make sure you put £1001 in the first time, then transfer £1000 out. In subsequent months, you can transfer in £1000 and transfer out £1005.
  • They shouldn't refuse you . As the are two different accounts.
I work on behalf of MS, however, my views do not necessarily reflect theirs, I am not acting as a representative of the company while on this forum and I cannot warrant that what I say is 100% correct in all cases.

I wonder if, given the high interest account may end up as a Reward account, they're not allowing more than 3 accounts in total for now. Then, when your HIA swaps to the Reward, you'll have your 3?

No, you can take a current account right down to £0 (or below if there's an arranged overdraft) and the account will remain open. So there is no need to put £1001 in at first.

Is this just a hunch YB or are you speaking from experience?
Speaking from experience, although not with Halifax.

When I wasn't paid the FD £100 incentive automatically last year they blamed it on the fact I'd moved out most of my salary the same day it was credited for the first few months.

Maybe they were fobbing me off? For the sake of a day though, and with £5 possibly at stake, I think I'll be leaving my £1K in overnight.
  • If you had 3 Halifax accounts, could you credit then debit the others, and quailfy for 3 x £5.
eg HSBC to halifax 1, then 2, then 3

or do you have to use a 2nd party account each time, going from HSBC to halifax 1 to HSBC, then halifax 2, etc

Also online, just applied and it calls the account Halifax current account, doesnt mention the word reward. Is this normal?
