Thanks Tomtombeanie for popping in to say hello:hello:
Its a great feeling and I'm pretty focused now on saving for a house, I know that my chances of getting a mortgage will increase if I can show I have savings and thats what I'm aiming for!

i just want to say hello too! and i'm saving towards a house deposit, though i've decided to go back to uni so it may be a bit of a slow process for me - but its exciting right?
I babysit for a couple regularly, and love it! its a nice house, they leave me chocolate and the kids are always in bed by the time i go!

:hello: Slowlyfading and thank you for popping into my little diary.
Knowing I have something to aim for is making saving exciting for the 1st time ever!
I love my job and I do alot of babysitting for kids from work and through the agency, and you do get regulars who ask for people to go back which is nice especially if its a nice family. Its easy money most of the time, last month I managed to make over £200, half of which is now in my house savings
Good luck with your house deposit savings and with your Uni course

Hi Palema,
Just wanted to say hi as I found your thread today! Well done on becoming debt free.
We're in quite similar situations - I got df just after Christmas and am now saving hard for a house deposit. I'm just finding it really strange though. I can't quite get my head around the idea that this money is mine. I'm still checking my bank account multiple times a day, and instead of adding up how much I owe everyone I am now constantly updating a spreadsheet showing how much I have in different accounts. Is this normal? Will I ever be able to spend money without feeling guilty again?!
I'm so pleased to have found a diary that will give me some inspiration! I loved all the diaries on dfw and it's great that you've started one about staying debt free once you get there.

Yes this is perfectly normalmn dfw844. We became df last August and I too am constantly looking at my accounts and seeing savings going up. I do the virtual sealed pot challenge, and that is great coz I round down any odds I have in my accounts to nearest fiver and put monies across to savings account - am up to nearly £40 since January, which hadn't I done this these monies would have been 'lost'. Give that a go and see your savings increase even more.:jWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -

:hello: and thanks for visiting my diary!
Well done on becoming DF its a fab feeling!!
I know exactly what you mean about checking bank accounts and making spreadsheets. I've gone way OTT but it still doesn't feel real to me and I still feel as though I'm in a dream.
I've joined "The "We're saving for a deposit" thread" which is great and is extra motivation to keep going with the house deposit savings. The link is here for anyone wanting to come join in http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=789675
Also like Turnaroundsue I am a member of the virtual sealed pot challenge and its fun moving money into my online "piggy bank" each friday.
Take Care

Was babysitting last night and they paid me for the last month, I got £130 so another £65 into my house saving fund
Unfortunately I woke up on Tuesday morning and my voice had decided to take a holiday. Its been getting worse and as I had a sore throat this morning I went to the doctors - I've got laryngitis and have been advised not to go to workso no work til next week now.

I've had a few days off work sick due to having laryngitis
I felt really bad cause I didn't feel ill at all - I just couldn't speak!!
My voice returned yesterday and is totally great today. Much to my parents dismay. :j
I spent another weekend of babysitting Friday night I took home £30 and Saturday £40 so another £35 into my house savings account, taking my total house deposit savings to £605.85 since the start of February :j
Back to work tomorrow getting sorted for our Red Nose day fundraising on Friday, will be a busy week and really looking forward to it.0
