Sorry to hear about the tooth hun was it a front tooth?
The monthly sounds a good interest rate to me, mine ISA rate is a poor 1.50% with halifax! I do have a A&L esaver also but tyring to fill that ISA first.
Sounds like your saving will be growing in no time:)Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
Hi Maria
Thankfully its not a front tooth, its one of the molars on the right side a few back and can really only be seen if I open my mouth wide!!
I'm hoping that the interest rates might go up a little by this time next year so I can still make use of the ISA and fill it up at the end of the financial year 09/10.0 -

Well done Palema - doesn't it just feel great to know that all that money is yours and this time you are earning interest (albeit a small amount) instead of paying an extortionate amount?

About 6 months before the sh*t hit the fan so to speak, I took up a friends offer to move in with her sharing a flat. The rent and things were ok BUT I realised within 6 months that I had made the wrong choice (nothing to do with my friend, ALL to do with debts) and eventually after 9 months I moved back into my parents house.
Living with my friend made me realise how much I really wanted my own place. So that is my motivation to keep living the way I have been on a very limited budget so I can finally buy a little flat I can call my own.
The Monthly Saver has 5% interest which just now I think is pretty good. I'm looking forward to watching my savings grow and when the time comes -going flat/house hunting0 -

Just read your diary and wanted to say well done to you. You'll enjoy saving and seeing the accounts build up - a much better feeling than spending money that doesn't belong to you.
Well done, and good luck.

Maria - Thanks for your comment, I am very proud of myself!
Primula - Thank you for reading my diary and thank you for your comment, I am enjoying watching the savings mount up already, my babysitting money goes into my esaver weekly and its nice to see the total increasing each week0 -
Shame you don't live by me - am always looking for a reliable babysitter, but they are so hard to find these days. All the youngsters seem to have a social life so much earlier now than when I was young and babysitting!!:DWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

I know what you mean, I didn't have any sort of social life until I was about 16/17 as I swam for a club competitively I quit when I was 15 due to exams and studying for them. I then got a part time job working a couple of nights 4pm-6pm and a sunday 7am-12pm it meant I was getting money and also had time to study. Even at 15/16 I was babysitting for family friends and neighbours, I don't know many kids now a days who do that.
I babysit pretty much every weekend, through an agency I have seen people posting about before, my friend recommended me for it a few years ago and its a great way to earn extra cash, the parents know their child(ren) will be looked after well as the agency only has qualified childcarers on their books. I posted a recommentation away for my friend at work yesterday and if she gets taken on I will get £10 M&S voucher
