    Hi guys,

Bright and cold here today so I guess we will be staying in - but there's loads to do. LO's temp has broken this morning but he is asleep on the settee wrapped in his blanket - might have something to do with having mum up half the night:rolleyes: - but he has eaten a little breakfast and so I am sure he will be back to normal very soon. DD1 has Peter pan on the DVD so peace reigns at the moment.

So far I have tidied through the house, got a wash on and drunk loads of coffee. After lunch I plan to strip the beds, hoover through and re install AOL on the computer upstairs and hopefully get it hooked up to the modem? so that it's wireless.(I can then have the lappy back to myself ;):D ) Also I want to strip out the lounge we don't use (rescuing all of DS1's lego bits from under the furniture) re-arrange it and spring clean in there. I managed to grab a pine bookcase off Ebay for £12 (includes delivery) :T :T which is slim enough to go in the hall when I get the carpet down. Tonight I will be phoning by half brother as he sadly lost his wife to the big C and his step father all in the course of a few days last month and is understandably in pieces at the moment.

Lunch will be left over chicken and baked potato, tea will be pasta and garlic bread.

Pen-pin, I hope the nurse has been and you are feeling a little better. The way you cope amazes me - gentle hugs to you hun. xxx

JackieO - another one here reduced to tears reading your post - you are truly a remarkable woman and an inspiration to me. Many happy returns of the day and I will be raising a glass with you tonight. xxx

Churchie, so sorry I missed your birthday. :o Belated happy birthday and I hope you had a great time. xxx

Diva, great news about Tristan. Gentle hugs to you both. xxx

Gentle hugs to you and yours Kathy and I hope things turn around soon for you both. xxx

Floss2, I like the way you put things!!!:D I have thought about it and as they want me to take the time soon I think being as tired as I am at the moment and the anniversary of Eric's death just around the corner I will take the leave over the next few weeks. The unpaid leave I was having to take for half term the week after next has already been transferred to a holiday and on Tuesday I will book a couple of weeks off for next month. I will also ask if I can carry some days over as it's always handy if the kids are ill or something crops up. I will certinly be on top of it from now on so that next Xmas hopefully will be paid leave.

Oops, I seem to have written a novel. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hugs to all else in need, Sybil, how is little bear today? See you all soon and keep warm everyone.

    Smoky. xxx

    Morning all:D

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday JackieO!! Know you'll have a lovely day with that wonderful family of yours:D Here's to the next year:beer:

Diva, what amazing progress for Tristan to be home. He must be one stubbon man:rotfl:So glad you have been able to share time again:D

Well it snowed all evening yesterday, and carried on through the night but fortunately there was so much standing water it hasn't settled. Now we have brilliant sunshine and blue skies. I really feel like doing *something* but I don't know what:confused: There's really no need for baking, the tins are still pretty full. Could do some ironing, but where's the joy in that:rolleyes: Think I'll turn out my craft hampers and boxes and look for inspiration there:D At the very least I could tidy them all up, and refresh my memory of all the supplies I have. I'm a terror for buying what I already have in:o

Lunch will be soup ( that's just reminded me, I bought a butternut squash to make soup with, suppose I should do that:rolleyes:) and dinner will be something with rosti, not sure what, just I have a real fancy for rosti:rotfl:

Hope you all have good days. ((hugs)) for the poorlies, and all those with snow, wrap up warm:D

    Afternoon Al!
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday Jackie O, you deserve the best!

MSD- Great to hear about Tristran, may he go from strength to strenth!:T

PP- Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Tru- Well done to Miss Tru:T :T

Well haven't been on here for a few days as I had the plumbers in. Put in a new boiler and shower. Absolute chaos in here!  They had to put new gas pipe in, so all the carpets and floorboards were up, dust and mess everywhere Argh!
Now though, it's all done. Only took three days all told. Can't believe how hot the radiators are, and instant hot water. Should have had it done years ago, but I couldn't afford it then.:p

Feet are still playing up. Got my work meeting Friday. They are coming to me though.
Got to see Occ Health on 5th March. My MS welfare officer is taking me. I love my job, but don't know if I can continue doing it.:o

DS has just got up. He's getting sooo lazy:rotfl:

Sprinkling of snow here this morning, but not bad.

Been to sainsbugs with OH, and got four packs of Fairy dishwasher tablets for £2.98 instead of £6.63. Well worth it.

Well ave a great day all.

Popped out this morning as it is dry & sunny here. Went to the bank, bit it was closed, went to the chemist to get painkillers for hubby, he strained his back doing the ceiling over the stairs, went to the butchers & got some liver £1.66, that will do us for 2 meals & some sausage meat to make another meatloaf, hubby really likes it, also got spring greens & potatoes. Went to the wool shop & got a couple of balls of tangled wool for 50p.
PP, you don't whinge & we all like to know how you are.
Sybil, big hugs to you, DH & LB.
Happy Birthday JackieO you are an inspiration
MSD, glad to hear about Tristan.
    Hugs to Smokey
Hope you feel better soon Sweetpea
I bought a couple of warm jumpers from the local charity shop this morning, so no doubt we'll have a heatwave next week, I also managed to get a book each for hubby & I that we hadn't read.
    Breakfast - egg on toast
Lunch - baguette with crispy duck in hoisin sauce & iceberg lettuce
    Tea - no idea
I hope everyone stays safe & warm.
    Hugs Hester

Hi all. Smoky - thanks for the (((hugs))) but my worries are nothing compared to yours. I hope LO feels a lot better soon and lots of (((hugs))) to your half-brother. What a dreadful time it is.

Nelski - it's about time we had something fresh to look at!

Tru - well, you've been and gone and dunnit now, haven't you? Too late for a telling off! I'm just glad you are back home safe and sound. I must admit, I love the air when it's this cold - I'm sure it does you good. Well done to Miss Tru - new jobs are becoming quite rare nowadays so she's done really well.

I have also been out but, with no snow, my route to the shop was not dangerous. I called into our local Scummerfield Express and bought a YS cherry pie for half price and some choc ices to go with it; that will be pudding. I also bought a couple of little bric-a-brac things from the charity shop, one of which is a lovely old wooden box designed to look like an old-fashioned book - I don't know what I'll use it for but, at 50p, I couldn't resist it! They also had some corner protectors for furniture which I shall give to DS2 and DIL for when their baby is born and toddling. Nearly all their friends are pregnant at the moment and one couple had a little boy on Tuesday - DS2 and DIL visited him on Wednesday and are now really excited about their own; they just have to wait until August!

Oh, well, I suppose I'd better go and have some lunch, then do a bit more work.

    Keep safe and warm, everyone.

    Afternoon All!

Happy Birthday to Jackie O have a great one. You sound very much like my Mum, she has a very positive attitude & lets the GC do anything, my youngest still has fads of doing Nana's hair ;) Enjoy your family they sound great.

Sorry you're feeling so grim PP big & gentle hugs to you.

MSD I'm still so so thrilled about Tristan :T - maybe we should all get on the job of him having the operation next ;) Send him all my love I'm so happy for his family & friends that he has some more time.

OS wise have done 3 loads of washing, cleaned the kitchen & bathroom & hoovered downstairs. HM mystery veg & lentil soup & naan bread followed by lemon sponge & custard :D for dinner this evening. The kids all requested hot dogs for lunch & my Mum & I had peanut butter & banana sandwiches. I'm sitting down now with the paper & hopefully some peace to do the crosswords & have a good read. DS1 is out with his friends, DS2 has gone to the pictures with Nana & DD is watching a dvd upstairs. Her BF went out with my DH this morning to see some wheelchair rugby with a local disabled group my dh is involved in. It was great fun apparently & DD's BF joined in and had a great time :T They're at an 18th birthday party tonight so we've negotiated a coming in time of midnight on the understanding that they cannot be rolling drunk, make too much noise or be ill. It seemed to go down well but I'll report back in the morning ;)

I hope that everyone is having a lovely day. It's cold but sunny here again although snow is forecast for tomorrow. ((((((((hugs)))))))) to all who need one or who just want one. Reverbe I hope you sorted your french knitting out last night

:T :T :T to Miss Tru - as others have said not easy to find work at the moment so all credit to her.

Hilstep I just had a bit of a snigger about you not being about for a few days as you'd "had the plumbers in" - sounded for a second like you were referring to something else altogether IYKWIM! ;) :rotfl: Sounds like you're lovely and snug now anyway which is good news.

Weather here is beautiful - hopefully the sun which is blazing down will help make the pavements less trecherous. I have at long last decided to get to grips with the beetroot mountain in the bottom of the fridge so some of that is cooking at the moment ready to make beetroot and choc brownies later on. The stall I wanted for the loaf tins wasn't out on the market - one of the food stalls was selling bars of 100g Lindt 70% chocolate for 50p a bar though so I bought four. MrEH bought one too but apparently he intends to eat that! ;) Called in at the charity shop on the way back and dropped off a couple of bags of stuff - managed to find a big old Great Britain Atlas with a publication date of 1965 - just packed FULL of interesting info......only £1 too! Definately couldn't resist that!

Right - pinger is going off so beetroot to be drained and ingredients to be put in the BM for pizza dough for later.

Just thought I'd call back in to mention Scummerfield's latest free magazine which has loads of really good recipes in it this month. It's well worth the nothing you have to pay for it!

Here's a Welsh pudding I shall try tomorrow - it appealed to me because it uses things that you would normally have in the store cupboards, so it's a great pudding to make up if you are in a 'poverty' week!

    Pwdin Mynwy (Monmouth Pudding)
    Serves 4

    16fl oz semi skimmed milk
    1.25ozs granulated sugar
    1.25ozs butter
    Zest of 1 lemon
    6ozs fresh white breadcrumbs
    3 medium egg yolks
    5 tbsps strawberry jam

Preheat oven to 170C/325F/Gas 3. Grease 1.5pt ovenproof dish.

Place the milk, sugar, butter and lemon zest in a saucepan and bring to just under boiling point. Stir in the breadcrumbs and allow to cool slightly.

Stir in the egg yolks and pour half the mixture into the greased dish. Melt the jam in a small saucepan and spead half of this over the mixture in the dish. Put the remaining mixture on top and the rest of the jam on top of that, spreading it to the edges.

Bake for 40 mins or until set. Serve with custard, cream or icecream.

To me, that sounds really yummy.

Well, my hands are cold so I'm going to soak them in some hot water and then have a cuppa.
