OK tonight I'm doing the following. Cheap Date

    1. Driving (costs less as no taxi and I won't be drinking which means she will drink less)
    2. Going for Mexican. (It's cheap but fun)

No I'm not going to be telling her I'm broke.

You should meet someone on here - even if not in debt they'd be likeminded :D

Sounds like a great offer but don't know if I could keep up. Flora London Marathon

My hubby never told me he was in stupid debt until we'd been together a year. For a cheapo night (in comparison to eating out) would buy me a bottle of champagne and cook a big lasagne.

As he'd made the lasagne so big, we'd eat it all weekend. It never occured to me he was saving money - I just he couldn't cook the right size portions. £20 on a bottle of champagne made me feel really special and indulgent but its only a couple of rounds in a pub!

You are definitely dating the wrong sort of women if they aren't offering to go 50:50 on a date. My pride wouldn't let a guy pay for everything all the time... an occasional treat is ok tho!:D

Thats a nice story but not a good strategy for me as I'm no good at cooking.

Maybe learning to cook with her is an option. Thanks.

Maybe your right. She doesnt offer and I'd feel cheap asking her to go Dutch.

I am a guy and for pete's sake don't get more into debt just because you want to try and make someone else happy. I did. And I am filing my bankruptcy papers in a few weeks.

So let that be a lesson to all of you. Needless to say, said person is no longer supportive... funny how it can change so quickly when you've got the wrong person (seemed right at the time...).

Hi haggle, I know what you mean mate, its a tough one. But I'm gonna be blunt, whats more important to you, her love or your leg over. If she loves you and wants to be with you then it wont bother her, if it does then, hey-ho chalk it to experience, move on BUT get rid of the debt and do something to address your spending habits instead. Hope that helps in some way. Len
