Dating in debt

Dating someone you really like while working to get our of debt sucks.
I'd don't want to say, "lets say in on Friday beceause I'm broke" so of I go for dinner. She orders wine and I smile but inside I'm thinking, that's another £30 on the card.
I need a second job or maybe a girl who is also going through the process of also getting out of debt.
What's your story? Feel free to flirt.

We are living in the material world and she is a material girl.
If I was a women I'd stay away from broke guys. Things could go wrong. One minute it's lets stay in tonight, next it's have you got money for the pizza.

Did a google search for "Dating in debt" and discovered the following.
1. The dating site for people in debt datingfordebtors.com has ironically gone bankrupt.
2. Another webise recommended the following.- Picnic's
- Plays performed by a local theater group
- Craft fairs or arts festivals.
- Wine tasting at a local wine store.
- Exhibits at the local museum.
- Bake together.
- Shoplifting.

Could you spend less by suggesting she comes to yours for the evening and watch a DVD / have a takeaway / or even cook for her. You can use the excuse that you want to have a romantic evening just for the 2 of you rather than say its because of debts.
When you get to know each other well you can tell her you're not spending a lot because you clearing debts.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
You can try go for a picnic at your local park. Bring a blanket, a picnic basket packed with your favorite cheese, grapes, wine and some chocolate for dessert. Bring along a book of poetry and take turns readings love poems to each other. i always do that. :beer:Keep In Touch0

You'll find that there is a disproportionately beneficial effect if you take her on dates where you've put some effort into it. It doesn't have to be expensive, no way. A picnic, a nice night in with some candles and a meal you've cooked, inexpensive bunch of flowers, that sort of thing. Some of my most favourite moments with my now husband (and believe me, he is skintos) weren't the expensive nights out but when we walked along the river at night, or wandered around the market, or just danced around to music at home, the spontaneous, fun things.
Women like to be made to feel as though they are a bit special so doing nice, well thought out things (take her to a museum or art gallery for example followed by a nice warm mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows) can be more romantic than just going out for a meal (restaurant = easy = no effort = not very special).
Just my tuppence worth, dating doesn't have to be expensive. And if it does have to be expensive for this girl then do you really want to be with someone who is after your money?Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

Oh honey! Anyone would think that all girls cared about was the size of your wallet!
The best date I ever went on was a drive to the coast, a walk along the wind lashed beach, followed by a cream tea in a pub by a roaring fire in the depths of winter.
It was one of my first dates with the man who is now my hubby so you know.. it worked!
Skip the expensive dinners hon, Do takeaways, with a bottle of Tesco Cava on 3 for a tenner, and a dvd snuggled up on the sofa. (My "girls" are very eligible 30-somethings with discerning tastes who are used to flashing the cash - but we all love that Cava!)
Do country walks and a pub lunch - or just a couple of drinks - or like molanole suggests - a hot chocolate.
Cook breakfast togetherand then go back to bed with the papers.
Buy pizza bases and toppings and make pizza together. (It's fun!)
Round up your boys and meet her and her girls inside the club so she pays her own entry fee! (You guys can get there early when it's cheap or free to get in!)
Go out "on a school night". Student night early in the week is great fun and with free entry and drink promotions costs about a 5th of going out on Friday or Saturday night.
Get a p/t job in a pub or club. You'l get extra money, she can come and visit you at work if she wants and there maybe perks like free drinks.
Check out which places are having a promotion and go there for your meal! It's quite often cool places like Chef & Brewer pubs or Zizzi's etc

Take up mystery shopping - free meals plus a fiver for filling in a questionaire afterwards:

and do let her pay her way once in a while!
Or at least get her to drive so she's not so keen on the £30 bottles of wine!

Good morning! Both me and my boyfriend are paying off debts, it took us about a year to get round to telling each other, that was a year of cinema, dinner, days out etc... as soon as I said one night, lets stay in 'I need to save a bit of cash if that's ok' He said he had been thinking exactly the same thing but didn't want to disappoint me.
I must admit though, the first date he took me on, paid for a wonderful dinner, wine and drinks after, was a complete gentleman, it wasn't really that that won my heart, it was the next weekend spent at his parents cottage, roaring fire, couple of bottles of red wine, a home cooked dinner with candles and a two hour walk with the dog that really did it for me...
Aww I'm getting all love-y just thinking about it!0 -
A big thanks for the feed back from the women above.
