Hi
if the Barclay plat card is 0% you should only pay the minumim on that and the extra on the expansive cards. That way you pay less interest in the end.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Sorry to hear about your husbands job hun. I hope he gets better soon. My DH works for our family business and things are slow too. Every month we never know if we can keep going. Its scary.
Maybe you Ds can get a grant to go to university? Hope so. Always wished I had gone.
How od you stop yourself thinking of finances? Pleas tell me! Im constantly thinking of them!! If I stopped Id be down the shops spending like I was a millionaire. Hope that isnt waht you do..lolHi Sugarpants! great name by the way!!
l know how you feel,, some daysl feel exactly the same, but its good to know you can come on here and vent your frustration and sometimes that's all it needs to be able to feel better. My OH is self employed and did earn fairly good money but due to the credit crunch work was thining and now he's just found out he has rheumatoid artheritis and needs double hip replacement asap! Or eldest has just started uni and when he could do with our financial help we just dont have it. But if its any consellation this xmas our finances were really short and the kids didnt have anything like they usually have, but they didnt mind at all, it had no adverse effects on them!! Your kids will never be ashamed of you, they'll just be grateful that they have loving parents and a warm home.
Sometimes though, if lm having a down day l just have a day off thinking about the finances (l know its easier said than done, but give it a go)and then l do feel refreshed the next day, so chin up and lots of love XXSAVING FOR OUR FIRST HOUSE DEPOSIT

Hi Sugarpants sorry to hear you are feeling down, just to reiterate about the children, we were poor financially when I was a child, mainly hand me down clothes from cousins, no holidays just the odd day trip to the local seaside, never ate out rarely got meat. My dad worked hard at three jobs but in the 60's with 6 children there was not really enough coming in and they both did their best, they never qualified for free school meals or anything.
I remember my mum being there for us with a hot meal every night, friends always welcome to share whatever there was and whilst I am not mega rich now I am not materialistic either, your love and time is much more appreciated by children.0 -
Deffo gonna look into stacking shelves in the night.l.Sounds a great way tomake a bit more each more.Didnt think of that. Although Im sure I will be exhausted but can always give it a go:beer:Hi, I know exactly how you feel and I work full time!
If it helps I know a girl who works for Mr A's stacking shelves through the night. Would this be something you could do, I think she only works two shifts a week.SAVING FOR OUR FIRST HOUSE DEPOSIT

To be honest, from your SOA it looks like you're doing everything right and I wouldn't recommend a DMP for you after all. You are managing your min payments and more. Good luck to you!My Debt Free Diary I owe:
July 16 £19700 Nov 16 £18002
Aug 16 £19519 Dec 16 £17708
Sep 16 £18780 Jan 17 £17082

Hi Sugarpants - sorry if Im out of line, but have you looked at you phone/internet charges.
I pay bt 11.50 per month for the basic line, and my OH rang aol and told them that he wanted a cheaper deal or he would switch broadband provider.
He got the monthly bill on broadband down from £35 to £14 and they threw in free anytime uk calls to all but 084* numbers and mobiles. For an extra £7 we get free calls to about 40 countries (both families live abroad). I love being able to just chat to my mum for the first time in years!
I told 02 that I wanted to go pay as you go and they gave me a £10 per month with more minutes and texts than I can use. They dont advertise the £10 rate - you have to ask for it or say that you are going payg.
Im sure that there are cheaper deals out there for you, but this way suits us (and 8 year old daughter!!)
cheers, LHB0 -
Hi sugarpants, yes son has got grant and he lives in halls, he's as happy as a pig in pooh!! and to commenton what OP said, the kids all bring their friends in and we make the food stretch what ever it is, and were always pleased to see them and thats what kids do remember, my mum and dad were like that and l have 2 friends in particular (35 years later) that still think of them as thier second parents.
