beccatje can she not use skype if she really 'must' talk to him? What an awful discovery!
Pasta - the huge bags from Tesco are not too bad, but even they are double the price they were last year!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

Beccatje - That's terrible. Does your phone system have any code on it which you can punch in before a call can be made? Perhaps it's time, if this is the second incident, for some of her precious possession to be sold to help pay the bill. This may sound tough but she needs to be made to realise that money doesn't grow on trees. Perhaps you can disconnect the phone and take it to bed with you in future?
We now have a (new) phone on which we can block certain things. Blocked as of today are:
All mobile phone numbers (here in holland they all start with 06)
All 0800 and 0900 numbers (which are the expensive ones!) And also all numbers starting with 001 which is the code for the USA.
She will be made to pay for the bill as she works at Macdonalds on the weekends. But she's still paying for the last one..
I already take my mobile AND my purse to bed with me. Got a lock on the pantry door etc.
Anybody want a teenager? She's free!.. I'll even bring her to you..0 -
Okay, so this foodshortage thing is not a hoax then?
It's not imaginary?
I'm going to do a big shop tomorrow.
Budget is tight so I can't buy all that much extra but will bring some extra.
So best bet is gonna be: Flour, rice, Pasta?
How about veggies? Canned?0 -

That's what I said!! (well shouted really..)
It's just a mystery to me what goes on in her head. There's no explaining it either.
Fact is, I am facing an unknown high phone bill when finances are tight as is.
I'm def. gonna do some pasta stock up as well...0 -
I am in the process of talking DH into buying a couple of sacks of potatoes and onions for the winter.
Was shocked at the price of turkey mince and chicken pieces yesterday so ended up buying chicken thighs instead.
Might grab some huge turkey thighs next time I see them and stick them in the freezer. If I defrost one and cook it in the slow cooker it should give a decent amount of meat for a curry etc!
Need to convince DH to drive me to Lidl for more flour etc as well.
I feel really conspired against despite DH having a decent salary as we have a second daughter at her second year at uni and another DD (14) who will be going as well. Our 22 year old has graduated and has a job in a hospital so that is something!"This site is addictive!"

Well I'll deal with the madam.. or try to anyway.
I've been reading on this foodshortage thing.. that's scary!!!
We might start eating totally different things if this keeps going.
Something to think about.
What will we eat as a staple food if rice, wheat and Corn are no longer affordable or available?
Any suggestions?0 -
Potatoes !!!:d0
