Sammy...can you use one of the extendable rails for nets, set it inside your window space, above the window cill and put your second, thick curtains on that....I am doing it this year in my living room...walls are very thick so I have a deep cill inside and out. The rails are not very expensive I forget what I paid for mine, but price was in euro so you should be able to get them more cheaply in UK.

Where did you buy it from?
If it was Tesco I would take it to customers services and say it doesn't work and ask for your money back.0 -
Thinking about it, I bought some No More Nails stick up thingies a while ago now and they were a load of carp too.
I think I got them form Wilkinsons so didn't bother taking them back.
If it had been Tesco I would have gone back and got a refund, they normally give refunds for most things.0 -

Worth a try - you tried it - it didn't work. They are a national company and have a reputation to maintain. I have taken stuff back - so do try.
And if the shop says no I would write a letter of complaint to the manufacturers - goods sold should be 'fit for the purpose' so you are entitled to a refund. There is a website - I think its called 'Consumer Direct' run by trading standards which should help if you have a complaint about goods and/or services.
Yep - I've just googled it - here it is!

And you don't necessarily need the receipt!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Now I havent exactly got a fortune to spend but i do have a curtain pole to put up - ok i need the holders but my main problem is attaching them to the wall. .....
sammy_kaye - this 'damn nuisance of a steel beam' that you've got, have you ever tried to find out if it goes all the way to the ceiling? Or is there a possibility that it's only about 12 - 18 inches deep? Might just be worth checking. Plus, sometimes these lintels only extend a few inches past the window aperture - what about a longer curtain pole that is anchored either side of the lintel if that's the case?
What do your neighbours do? - surely somebody else in your block must have the same problem.0 -

I would try.
Tell them they are not doing as they claim and you can't afford to pay for something that doesn't work.
I am sure they are about £4 if not more which is a lot to throw away if they aren't doing what it says they should.0
