I will try the switching off tonight, see if I can get back online in the morning. It might just have been teething troubles. (like hell !). But its worth a try if I'm serious about saving money.
My neighbour is on broadband too through the wall, but they are solid bricj walls and we havent had any probs, she pinched mine by accident once but phoned to tell me.
I got it, Ceridwen, because this back room is sub artic in winter and I like to use the ancient wee laptop in the livingroom, and wireless was the only way to do it.0 -
Mornin' Sammikaye
In my bathroom my pa first put up a strip of wood, bevelled to look nice - as a backplate for the curtain rail to be screwed to, using 'no more nails'.
So far, so good.
These 'backplates probably have a name! Anybody?

Hi Sammy
I had the same problem years ago.
We did what Valli suggested above. We glued wood...(no more nails wasn't around then and don't remember what glue we used but knowing me I just asked at local builders shop) left it at least a week to dry then put the pole onto that.
Stayed there for many years with my blanket lined curtains on it for the winter (very attractive!!) and lighter ones for the summer
I have tried no more nails and others and was not impressed.
Try http://www.diynot.com/ great forum and friendly people on there.0 -

I have a wireless router, and yes I had huge problems with the set up etc, but I have been turning it off lately and thankfully no problems, as regards to security as long as you enter a code no one can tap into it, they are as secure as the wired ones, if anyone needs helps making your wireless secure pop over to the tech board, they are generally very helpful, they got me working on wireless and thats saying something from someone who is not all technical."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -

Re 'no more nails etc' -my DH used to be a builder and is still in the trade. He won't let me use these products at all. He says they are only as good as the surface you are sticking them to - if you apply them to a painted wall you are sticking your object to the paint NOT the wall. This will eventually come off! - it doesn't matter how strong the glue is!0

Dont know I'm afraid - and I should - as I have had to have them put up in 4 of the rooms in my house - and duly get my curtain poles attached to them. In my case - it wasnt possible to just attach the poles to the wall in the normal way as the walls are crumbling basically - the plaster has had it and I cant afford to do the replastering throughout that the house really needs - you should see how many (thousands) of pounds I have had to spend on my house anyway. Will try not to think about that - or I might have to go away and lie down in a darkened room with a wet flannel on my forehead.
Can sympathise - as I had to spend years with a makeshift arrangement to hold my curtains up till I did that.
PS: My back thingies that I had put up - batons? - were affixed to the walls with huge very long screw things -dont know what they are called either. Didnt use the "No More Nails".0 -

I am glad you said this as that is what I always thought. Couldn't understand how they could get away with selling the stuff, sounds like an accident waiting to happen..0 -
