you've summed it up perfectly paybacktime :T . You aren't being harsh, it's just about the lightbult moment hitting big time and the realisation about what has happened and the sacrifices needed and the plan for the future.

another thought - you are working part time and travelling 30 miles each way? For £400 a month??
Unless you live somewhere which is very rural, look closer to home for something - temping, supermarket work etc which will pay more than £400 - you are spending a third of your income on petrol which is crazy."Stay Wonky":D

Right insurance is now cut down to £176 per month.
The biggest part of my problem is the car in the garage.
As silly and stupid and crazy, immature, emotional as it sounds - I'm attached to it, spent too much money on it making it go faster and competeting in it, and i just don't want to let it go for nothing compared to what i've spent on it.
Huge problem.
Is the Audi the one that you drive to work and now the insurance for that is £176 per month. If yes then I can't see anything else to do than sell and get a cheap banger to get you from a to b. I mean cheap in insurance terms not price of the car itself.
If you competed in car racing of some sort do you not have sponsors to help with the cost of repairing and insuring the car in the garage. Could you not get back into it again and win some prize money.0 -

Bonkers, mate. What do you have in there? Whatever it is (I'm guessing a Caterham or something?) You can't afford it at the moment. You can get back into motorsport when you're earning again.
This comes up time and time again on this forum - young people who can't make ends meet because of motoring costs, but go to great lengths to justify why they need a turbocharged this or an alloy-wheeled that. It's madness. When you're old you won't remember the Audi A4 you used to drive - you'll remember the good times you had. Keeping that car is killing you.
Dude, cut your losses and sell the race car. Then, sell your Audi. You do NOT need an Audi. Buy a car in insurance group 1, 2 or 3. Pay off your debts. My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Blimey
I wish I had no rent etc and earnt £3500 per month take home!!
Get rid of what ever is in the garage, harsh as it is you are living in cuckoo land, like someone has already said you couldnt afford it when you were working, now you deff cannot afford it.
I am very suprised your parents dont want rent/ food money/ towards the bill money.

This shows that you could not afford your lifestyle before you lost your job let alone after it.
If I was you...or you were my son....I'd sell the car, buy a cheap to insure banger, cut entertainment out for a couple of months, probably sell the car in the garage (which you shouldnt have to pay road tax for...get a SORN) Ring up the mobile providers and say you can't pay and see what they can do. Also your internet provider. No new clothes for 6 months. Sell everything you no longer need on ebay.
Then...when you get a new job and I'm sure you will, you will have a fair more sensible attitiude to money and might even be able to save some cash to eventually move out of home and live independantly.
Please understand i have been this all of this i my head. Thank you for taking time to reply and i'll take in your words.
Other news:
Phone bill just been cut. (litterally) I've changed it down to £20 a month and i can only receive incoming calls texts.
Drastic, but needed.0 -

I didn't buy the audi cos of anything - it was pretty cheap and needed a mile muncher for the 400 miles I was doing a month.
I will be putting the car up for sale. Bare in mind i'm 21 years of age, and insurance on anything is a killer.0 -

See my post above - it doesn't have to be. Choose a car in group 1,2 or 3 and it will probably cost around £30 a month, top whack. Have a look on the insurance board for advice on which companies to choose."Stay Wonky":D
