Wow Sophiesmum, what an amazing garden! It's lovely. I wish I could grow vegetables. I have a quite a few herbs, but that's it. I keep reading about all the stuff you guys are growing and am suffering with jealousy, I want to grow vegetables too (need a stamping foot emoticon)

No I can't, not really. I have a garden but it's massively overgrown. I haven't done anything to it for the two years since my accident. It's so bad, it's too daunting to start. In an ideal world I'd call someone in to help....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

In an ideal world I would come in and help!!
When I worked at RBGE there were often bits of paper (postcards kinda) with numbers on them for folks just wanting specific jobs done - like tackle over grown garden, 14 ft hedge needs chopped etc.
We all use to pick up extra work like that. Is there a land based college by you? Just a thought. Or a local bob a job person advertised in the nearest town?
Otherwise I guess if you are chucking money at debt the thought of putting some of it to a jobbing gardener/landscaper might not be top of the priorities at the mo - depending on the size of it - it prob wouldn't cost too much.
Or what about those strapping raspberry vodka drinkers of yours?? Can you bribe them for a weekend/day of clearing for you?
I find slash and burn works very well - its very theraputic!!
Its incredibily daunting once its been left for a while but probably not as hopeless as it looks...if that cheers you up??? xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Get out of it!! :rotfl: You, naggy?? I don't think so...
Good ideas, the boys will be useless and will instantly think of a hundred and one things they are already committed to. I'd rather not have them help, as I'll backseat drive and annoy the pants off them:rolleyes:
I'll trek down to the village shop and see if there's a card up. That would be a start.
I'd like to give it an overhaul/redesign and utilise more of the garden for produce if I could - it's just such a stateAlso, my right shoulder and arm don't move as well as they could so certain things are a little more difficult, not impossible, just awkward - excuses over, I'll start looking for quotes.... hurries off.....

there are certain jobs that the boys (called boyls in our house
)are quite pleased to do. Anything involving machinery usually. The last job my boyls did in the garden was 12 months ago.......
But it was shredding the apple tree prunings, which involved macho noisy machinery, gloves, goggles and ear defenders.
Digging is def. not sufficiently macho (tell that to my back) but if they were around and not off at uni etc, I reckon I could persuade them to dismantle my pallets with macho tools and a few cans of beer.......
As they're not around, I have found a use for my geology hammer0 -
Piq , Is there a scouts/ boys brigade near you ? , many moons ago I used to clear gardens for the oldies, who used to supply us with homemade lemonade & cakes.
