As I said earlier I'm 12 and a half stone. Anyone fancy keeping me company with this?

20p that would normally get spent on junk is probably going towards cucumber which I'll slice with onion to have along with low fat canneloni I've done for dinner tonightCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Got 5 x 1kg mince reduced to one quid each at lunchtime! Now have 25 peedie bags of local beef mince in freezer. All for five quid I don't feel bad cos there were another 6 left. Got to share the love x I always think its terrible to take it all if taking a few I only do it if there are lots there - and today there was lots mince, sausages and pork loin. Mince is a good staple (doubled with tvp and oats) so will prob get one or poss two teas from each bag - whoppee
Forgot the blinking. Blackbird though doh
Silly insurance people tried to take money for darwin today - I know tis not due til 19th but they tried to take the money today (card transaction so no charge I hope) silly people, my wtfc goes in tomorrow which will cover it. But - normally I am clueless.
No more germinating seeds unless you count the bird seed that is germinating amoungst what should be Goji berries - whoops might have knocked the bird feeding stuff in some compost...........:rotfl:I don't know what Goji berries look like but I do know what barley and linseed look like - doh doh doh:D
Another tray of tomatoes bursting into life - as I am the only one who eats tomatoes - this might be a massive mistake (12?? types tomatoes this year). However part of the master plan is to sell some plants (pay for holiday??) and to fill freexer with tomatoes for making bolognese etc to try not buy many tins. Remind me of this when I can't leave the house as the doors are sealed up by rampant plants and exhausted by watering tomato plants and can't have a holiday anyway cos there will be too much watering to do!!!!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Re the seed growing - I painstakingly have been only putting 2/3 little seeds in each pot with the aim of not having to thin them out. I've been reading up on squre foot gardening and it seems like a good way to get a high yield from a small space with the least amount of hard work. He (mel Bartholemew)also advocates missing out that stage, and then just snipping the tops off any weak seedlings leaving the strong ones undisturbed to develop their roots.
What do you think of this way of growing stuff ?0 -
you're darn right about mowing a lawn being a mans job, i had a word with OH last night about the fact that i've mown the lawn more than he has, he does remind me i owned the flat for 4 years before he met me, but i've argued that since we've known each other (2 years) i've still done it more and he's got a lot to catch up on!.0

i'm also aiming to fill up my freezer with produce from the garden including lots of tomatoes for sauces.
SM that book sounds fab, we've only got about 3x4 foot for our veggie patch but i have high aspirations for it and the green house0 -
Personally I can't see the attraction in lawns - lots of work for something you just look at. I'd rather have a veggie plot, or fruit trees or flowers any day at least they are productive.
I don't have a real garden as I live in a first floor flat but I have stolen some of the communal grounds, unfortunately mostly concrete:rolleyes: for veggie growing and got creative last year with what I could grow in baskets, pots, greenhouse and tiny bit of garden. Must be the taurean in me I am happiest growing, cooking and creating stuff:p
I've got some piccies somewhere of my little corner last year.
runner beans in pots
my little corner
cherry toms in baskets and few fruit bushes and rhubarb
parsley,chives,mint
some of my pickings - everything grown in pots/baskets
This year I am doing raised beds down this end of the garden - has to be raised beds as it is concrete where I can do stuff.0
