Thanks I was dead chuffed when they actually grew as it was my first year:D
Looking forward to picking up lots of growing tips from fay this year - wish we could have chickens here too. Would love to have a garden the size of fays place;)0 -
Those veggies look great Sophies mum. I had a great crop of beans last year and am trying out some different ones as well this year and tomatoes, garlic and whatever else i can cram in.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Mine never got to the freezer, straight from bough to plate:D Every night for nearly 6 weeks...couldn't get enough of them:rolleyes: :rotfl:
I forgot courgettes, mine grew quite late but were nice all the same. I picked the last one in October.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

sophiesmum wrote: »Personally I can't see the attraction in lawns - lots of work for something you just look at. I'd rather have a veggie plot, or fruit trees or flowers any day at least they are productive.
I don't have a real garden as I live in a first floor flat but I have stolen some of the communal grounds, unfortunately mostly concrete:rolleyes: for veggie growing and got creative last year with what I could grow in baskets, pots, greenhouse and tiny bit of garden. Must be the taurean in me I am happiest growing, cooking and creating stuff:p
I've got some piccies somewhere of my little corner last year.
runner beans in pots
my little corner
cherry toms in baskets and few fruit bushes and rhubarb
parsley,chives,mint
some of my pickings - everything grown in pots/baskets
This year I am doing raised beds down this end of the garden - has to be raised beds as it is concrete where I can do stuff.
Wow you do amazing things!!!!!
(The chicken in one picture looks like it has many boobs but then noticed its the ruffle bit:rotfl:)
Seriously SM - very very impressive.
I can't imagine how you fit everything in!! Are you growing more this year or similar things? I love growing climbing french beans as I prefer hte taste to runners - and they are as pretty.
The seedling thing - yeah its kinda the same philosphy as my old boss - no pricking out and minimal disturbance to roots etc - get them to the filling a 9cm pot stage and you can't do much harm (except forget to water them).
Lawns YAWN - SSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring. Sorry all of you that like them.
LT if OH doesnt want to mow the lawn - just ask him to pop along for some sanitary items for you - and say you'll get on with the lawn - I think you find he might change his mind:D:D
My friends use to lock doors when they saw me coming with anohter basket of courettes so be warned - I hear they post well.
The kids after last years bumper crop of mangetouts can't even see them anymore - we had bowls and bowls of htem every single little day once they started.
And sweetpeas too - I love sweetpeas.
SM am still gobsmacked at your bounty!!

You look like you could fit a hen run in no bother - greenhosue looks great too.
Mind on its only a pals garden - i could post a photo of the veggie garden if I take one from my bedroom - but its still uncultivated and pretty messy - you might give me a row.
When I lived with OH he had a tiny patch and stairs (17 pots on the stairs I put on) and loads containers like you SM - he was gobsmacked at the amount we managed to grow.
As long as its a container I think its awesome - like you siad square foot gardening - is really productive.
You'll be chortling at all my garden calamaties rather than my good advice.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
