Pepipoo? Never heard that one.

If they clocked you at 74mph. Your speedo is designed to over read. So it probably said 80mph on it. In which case you were driving too fast, above the legal motorway limit.CHEAP doesn't mean ETHICAL0 -
I may have been 14mph over the limit but i wasn't driving dangerously. I was on a by-pass (A483) and at the time i was on a dual carriageway.
My beef is that if i was driving dangerously i should be penalised. However, i don't feel i was.
I had 3 points (SP30) and £60 fine about 5 years ago, i was doing 54 in a 40 (hope this isn't going to turn into a pattern - 14mph). When i got these points i just took them, the limit was 40 and although i still wouldn't say i was driving dangerously there is more chance that somebody was at risk.0 -

Chances are if your speedo said 74, you were probably doing nearer to 68.
The advice about not signing the form or paying an extra pound on top of the fine is total rubbish.
I have avoided points but I don't think that the method I used is exactly "legal"
Yes, it quoted 74mph. I don't think it was anywhere near that, i saw them pretty quickly and slowed right down.0 -
Its not whether you were driving safely or not its the fact you were over the limit and by 14mph,0

Ask for the photos then?
Lucky they don't think you were driving dangerously:-
Statutory Limitations & Maximum Penalty:- On indictment - 2 years imprisonment or a fine or both
- Summary conviction - imprisonment not exceeding 6 months, or a fine, or both
- Disqualification minimum 12 months
- Obligatory endorsement
- Mandatory disqualification until passes extended driving test

You took the risk in the worst part of the country for speed awareness by the police, you'll just have to pay up and live with it.
Whether you thought the speed was dangerous or not makes not a jot of difference, the limit was 60 and you were going considerably more.
You might have got a warning for 66 or 68 if lucky, but no guarantee then even.0 -

Why don't you write in and tell that you are such a good driver that you don't need to take heed of speed limits.
I am sure they will waive the fine when faced with such logic;)0 -

In the eyes of the law, yes, those things we should pay attention to because without them, the country goes to rack and ruin, you were speeding. You BROKE THE LAW. Whether it was 14 over the limit. 10 over the limit or 7 over the limit.
Your 'beef' is irrelevant. It's nothing to do with whether you were driving dangerously. If you were then that should be taken into consideration AS WELL and you should lose your license for the safety of other users.0 -
How is driving at 14mph over the limit safe? I'm all for the "anti-camera" brigade, but at the end of the day, the speed limit is there FOR A REASON, the fact YOU think YOU were driving safely doesn't come into it.
If you were to ask anyone who has been caught for drink driving, I'm sure THEY thought THEY were driving safely as well.
If you speed, you risk getting caught. If you can't handle that, then DON'T FLIPPING SPEED!!!
AARRGGHHHH!!!!!If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
