Can i legally avoid a Speeding fine/points?
Options
Does anyone know how i may be able to avoid these points on my licence? I was caught by a transit van parked on a bridge in North Wales on Saturday.
Should signs be displayed? If so how far from the speed camera? This is probably the most obvious one.
I have been told that if i don't sign the form i was sent to confirm who the driver was it cannot be used in court? Bit risky i think.
Also someone said pay £1 over the fine amount.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How much were you over the limit? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I would have thought if you didn't say you were driving they wouldn't just let it go, they'll probably prosecute the car owner because its your responsibility to inform them if it wasn't you.[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

I was thinking more Urban Legends....If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Only 74mph in a 60mph ?
Getting caught by the notorious north wales police is not very good either. Also realise they should have a photo of the driver when they took the speed.

Have you received the Notice of Intended Prosecution yet, or are you just worried about the van.
Chances are if your speedo said 74, you were probably doing nearer to 68.
The advice about not signing the form or paying an extra pound on top of the fine is total rubbish.
I have avoided points but I don't think that the method I used is exactly "legal"0 -

Strangely, this is exactly what they do. I say strangely because in general you are not required to incriminate yourself in other aspects of law.
I believe a couple tried it a few years ago - each denying that they were the driver, and arguing that they cannot be forced to reveal the driver's identity because it would mean self-incrimination. It looked like they had a decent chance of winning... till they lost!0
