Options
Hi there i been coming to this site for a while now and having a read around and i have read a few post some say what the illness is some say that thay care for a loved one,
Me myself suffer from Fibromyaliga i have had this for some 7 years now but the worse thing is my husband has had ME/Fibromyaliga or both as thay say its called alsorts of things they are now calling it for nearly 17 years,
i cared for him all this time as a wife would, we also both have a load of other stuff like Thyroid (me) and for poor hubby he is now Dieabetic but he is NOT obsesst, now life in our house can be fun we tend to bounce of each other i help him he helps me we get there in the end we also have a saying we have to do it because we dont want anyone doing it for us:) we are not going to give into this illness,
And there are loads of people who think its not a true illness as all but all in the mind (i iwish) then i say to them tell you what you can have my thoughts for a day then we will see)
Anyway what i would like to ask is what is the illness you have to care for sorry if i have put it the wrong way but i guess you will work out what i asking like i`m going to end this post

  • My diagnosis is Borderline Personality Disorder and Psychosis. It used to be plain old depression but they updated it last year after I was hospitalised. Family still keep expecting me to get better and get a job. I don't think they realise just how disabling it is, or that the bad depressive states I would get into every year or so were all part of a long term condition.
As far as day to day living is concerned, I struggle with hallucinations, voices, anxiety, urges to self harm, extreme mood swings and very bad fatigue. My medication helps me to cope with this and does reduce some of the symptoms, but also makes me sleep half the day away. I've had mental health problems since childhood.

Mine is bi polar.....depression with psychosis and anything in between. They like to change their minds with each ever changing psychiatrist. My partner has fibromyaliga, athritis and spinal problems which are congenital. Like you he has been treated for everything but fibro until seeing a nuro specialist.

My partner has psychosis (depression) following a nervous breakdown 3 years ago. However, it is well controlled but he has the odd episode... and he is still under the community mental health team.

Myself I have several conditions that have arisen as a result of PCOS (yes, thats true, Im not bluffing. When I lost my place at uni due to failing an exam due to extreme fatigue, they just said a gynaecological condition could not have any bearing on my performance - how wrong they were!!! A very sharp letter from my GP soon overturned their 'decision' though)
As a side effect of this I suffer extreme fatigue, crippling joint pains, depression and low blood sugar which is a pain in the bum because I have to watch what I eat and when I eat religiously... usually its fine but occasionally I have a 'wobbly' which is very frightening... I get confused and forget where I am and who I am and other nasty stuff ;-(

I work full time but it is a struggle - I feel very humbled by the way everyone else copes, though. I have been told that I am classed as having a chronic illness, and unfortunately have not responded to treatment. This was due to medical negligence and I feel very bitter about it, but unfortunately I now work for the NHS and am reluctant to rock the boat by suing as several people at work have suggested I should do. I cannot claim any sort of financial help like benefits for it, as unfortunately most people just see it as 'heavy periods' which it isnt just in my case.

Ah a lovely list eh NOT! But I find madness and crazy laughter to be a help lol sorry but if I don't laugh at myself no one will.

Hey Claire, my mum has raynaud's she said it's quite rare, I'm dreading that I will get it when I'm older because her dr hinted it may be hereditary but all the stuff I've read on line leads me to think it's not. So I know how you must be suffering with that my poor mum looks like a pin cushion from all the blood tests she has to have.

I've got RA in 90% my body too but never heard of it called palindomic, that's interesting I shall go have a surf about that and yeah mine varies from day to day too, well hour to hour really so I know where you're coming from. Hugs.
