Best: New York without a doubt! For a sun/relaxing holiday, can't beat Alcudia, Majorca.

Worst: Nerja. The land of nothing to do!

We loved Nerja, we thought it very uncommercialised with some great restaurants, so it just goes to show what is one man's meat is another man's poison. ;)

    Agree about New York, though.
  • Best: Salou - i love it lol

Worst: France & ibiza didn't like them at all
    Winging life....

I believe best or worst places are judged by visitors' good or bad experience in a particular plac, rather than the place itself. Even the worst sh!thole on Earth can be great if you having a good time. And some of the best places, horrible, if you're not.
Get a life and you'll have a good time everywhere.

    Well said!!

My fave is Malta and also Florida and also Niagara Falls ( awesome)
    No real worse places.

We didn't see a single cockroach when we were in GC. Although we've had a fair few holidays I've only ever seen one and that was in Brisbane Au.

The ONLY sun/beach holiday I've ever been on & NOT seen a cockroach was Sharm last year. I think it may have been too hot for them in July:D

Now I think about it, can't remember if I saw any in Magaluf, but def everywhere else.

But I'm terrified of them, so I'm ALWAYS on the look out:o :o:o

I come from a long line of frugalites and am very much in the 'we've paid for this so we WILL enjoy it' school of thought. We were the kids picnicking in the rain and swimming in the sea no matter how chill the wind.

So value for money is key for me.

I love the European city trips... including Rome... why do so many people dislike Rome??? It has lots of history and you can walk everywhere... be careful crossing the roads though their driving skills are a bit sketchy.

If I HAD to pick a holiday that I regret spending so much on, it would be the USA thing. Nothing wrong with it and the people were grand.... they don't all wave AK47s around. But I just thought it wasn't different enough. Same as the UK but with bigger everything. Perhaps it was the language, I don't know... it just seemed a very long way and cost a lot of money for not very much in return.

Of course this is because I like to go away and 'do' different, it all depends what you're looking for.

ETA...... As for disliking Brits abroad.... the only thing worse than finding yourself in a room full of arrogant Brits, is to find yourself in a room full of Brits who think themselves superior to arrogant Brits.

That's what I particularly disliked about Rome. It was very stressful trying to dodge the cars and seriously dangerous. I like to feel relaxed on holiday.

I don't of course know where you went but Miami for example was definitely nothing like the UK, beautiful, very hot, beaches and palm trees and lots of Latinos.

Yes, funny that, many Brits really do think their often appalling behaviour is superior to all the foreigners abroad!!
  • Best: Maldives....absolutely beautiful and so relaxing....expensive but worth it! Worst: Turkey.....wasn't much to do or see when I was there...food in our hotel was awful....and was really awkward being a girl due to unwanted attention.

Best: Laos - Stunning scenery, so laidback, great beer
Sri Lanka - Gorgeous beaches, superb ruins
    Nicaragua
    Tibet

Worst: Costa Rica - Easily the worst city I have ever been to.
Dubai - A dusty construction site, constant road closures and no real history
