I am a fan of the USA. Washington is lovely. Love Vegas too. I thought New York would be scary but think it is safer than London now. Not keen on LA or Boston - the people are quite rude. Florida has changed in the last 20 years. Miami was really run down in the 80s but it has become too commercial now and lost some of it's soul.
I loved Bermuda, felt so safe and had the best of the USA and the UK. Very expensive tho.
Loved Switzerland as a child, again expensive but the quality was tip top.
Worst
I found Sydney very nice to look at but thought the people were rude. I have never seen so many miserable Aussies. The ones in the UK are far more cheerful.
Malta is a primitive grot hole but the people are so lovely and there are some lovely beaches and historical areas.
I didn't like the Algarve. I didn't feel the Portuguese liked the English and it was quite primitive.
The Caribbean is very primitive but the people were friendly and the sand is soooo white. The beach venders were annoying and I hated being bitten to death by the mossies:(. I also got the trots. Despite all that, I did enjoy it.
What makes a holiday for me is how welcoming the people are, safety, not too many insects and not too primitive. The X-factor is the main thing. Despite it being grotty etc, the magic of a place is what really makes it and usually generated by the people both native and tourist. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
I thought Malta was all a bit yellowy-beige - few trees, grass or flowers., few beaches (though a couple are very nice), so swimming off rocks and concrete jetties. Generally less nice accommodation than rest of med, though also falling short of the quaintly basic like greek studios.
When I was a travel agent, customers either loved or hated it....in general malta-lovers were over 60 and mainly male (maybe something to do with military history?)
Anyone who's tempted by it ...try it! If you like it enough to be tempted you may love it! Most people who haven't liked it (me included) have picked it for price, late availability or the fact it stays warmer longer than much of the med.
There aren't any beaches as such in Malta, it's pretty much all jumping off the rocks. You do get quite a lot of divers there though - which is why I went. Wouldn't choose it as a normal holiday destination though.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
What about Dubai? has anyone been?
I wouldn't say it ranks as the best place I've been on holiday, but I enjoyed it. Stayed at the Jumeirah beach, sister hotel of the famous Burj Al Arab (great to visit - hilariously OTT - but I wouldn't want to stay there. Go for a pre-dinner cocktail in the bar at the top). The service at the Jumeirah Beach was incredible though. Food & drink good but pricey. Waterpark next door fun. "Dune bashing" trip followed by evening bbq out at desert "camp" incredible. Diving poor - dived on sunken concrete barge, poor visibility and little underwater life, driven away by the neighbouring palm building project. Shopping - wasn't really interested, sorry, but the airport is very gold :rotfl:They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Favourite - We love Kalamaki in Zante. We go every year at the end of May and just chill out by the pool and eat good food
Also really enjoy Egypt, the fantastic weather, lovely hotels and lazing by the pool.
Worse - Albena in Bulgaria. Hotel food was disgusting and made me ill. Nothing to do in resort. Prostitutes in the resort. Unfriendly locals. Girls from a strip club hounded me (female) to go to the strip club every night. Weather was terrible.0 -
We always research any destination before we book so I'd say we don't have a 'worst' place.
There's been a few resorts we've passed through on trips or gone to on day trips, particularly in Greece & Turkey, that we would have hated to stay in.
Laganas on Zante is one of those.
We caught the local bus there one day. arrived at 10:30am, on the bus out of there at midday.
I'd say our favourite place is Bali.
The people are lovely, such a gentle temperament.
Lots to see & great food.0 -

I really want to go and see what it's like, travel is all about experiencing different things, the fact that not long ago, there wasn't anything there, really interests me. I fancy going dune bashing out in the desert as well, but with the hotel not far away...as I'm a scaredy cat.....that's a good idea.

Best: Love the Christmas markets in Rudeshiem Germany so picturesque, South of France, Egypt for scuba, Austria in summer for the views and Budapest
Got to say glad to see Melbourne on a few best places to go (I'm going 3 weeks today to watch the grand prix) but a little worried by Malaysia being a few peoples worst place. Im stopping off on my way back home for 5 days for the Grand Prix and will be on my own there.
Whats the best things to do in Melbourne?
Whats the problem with KL anyone?

Best - Lohifushi (Maldives) was just beautiful,New Zealand would love to live there, In the UK I love Whitby to have some lovely fish and chips.
Worst - Milan just big, dirty and expensive (the drink cost more than the food!!) also in Milan got pestered constantly by the African immigrants. Certain areas of Dublin..very scary0 -
Best- Cape Town, Galapogas isles or Rio de Janeiro. All fantastic places which everyone should visit.
Worst- Not sure really, i generally like everywhere i've been on my holidays so far, Maybe Gran Canaria for the cockroaches
Yeah!, what was the deal with the cockroaches in Gran Canaria?, its the ONLY place i have ever been where they were everywhere. Walking down the street, on the beach, in our room...why was that??0
