building site is a perfect answer. Heres one to think of Dubai its area is 1.5k sq mile total inc urban zone and has a  quarter:eek: of the worlds cranes working there

been 5 times. last went 2 years ago. will be a building site for the next 10 years at least. hotels very expensive. beers expensive. traffic horrendous.
1.5sq miles? where'd you read that? from deira (which is probably 1.5sq miles) and is the main living area "dubai" and it's resorts spread themselves around 10 + miles down the coast. for example the burj is about 6 or 7 miles from deira. granted the areas from deira to the burj (and past) are full of cranes
would i go again? yes (business - on expenses)
For a holiday? maybe (but only to spend a couple of nights in the burj al arab)
personally never found the shopping cheap. clothes and stuff more expensive than here. nice watches a little cheaper.0 -
Best : Florida, been several times, and there is so much to do. Don't just think theme parks, there is so much more. In the UK, Dorset, we love it so much, we leave our caravan down there and try to go a few times a year.
Worst : Can't think of anywhere that I have really hated. Been to Dominican Republic twice, and would go back if we wanted a beach holiday. If you are thinking of going, try to go to an American run hotel.
I wouldn't be influenced by what anyone else thinks of a place, but would go and have a look for myself. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Worst - has to be Magaluf!!!
Worst Airport - Heraklion - nasty smelly dirty airport - we don't visit the East end of Crete now as that airport services that end of the island!
Totally agree about Magaluf:eek:
Airport Heraklion, you forgot to mention you think the plane is going to land in the sea:eek:0 -

I really like Turkey.
We hired a car & drove to Efusus one day from Turgutreis.
Its near Kussadasi, so we had lunch there.
If Kussadasi was my only experience of Turkey, I would have hated it & never gone back:eek:    Its like benidorm (has highrise too:eek: ).
Try the other resorts served by Dalaman & Bodrum before you rule Turkey out.0 -

Best: Sydney Australia love it there lots to see and do and nice wine to drink.
Worst: Laganas Zante was a dump and the airport was so small.0 -
Best - New York and Barbados. But Sorrento, Florence, Paris and Salzberg a very close second.
Worst - Tunisia - awful men, won't leave you alone and didn't like the food, but apart from Tunisia, have really enjoyed everywhere else I have been.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
It still is from what I've read, I dont know why, but I really want to go!
I quite fancy visiting here. OH's firm has an office there, they have built the ski-ing centre there, he has a few friends that are working there - nightlife is a bit wild, apparently.
Dubai baffles and intrigues me, would like to go for a visit.
