 Woodbine thankyou for the clarification, but how can that be? Is there anothere type of benefit we would have to claim instead then?
We have both been despertately looking for work since husbands redundancy 2 months ago, had interviews but still not secured another posistion.
Should i leave my part time job if we havent secured a job that enables to us pay our mortgage etc? What are the implications of me just up and leaving my part time job?
Surely it is better to have some work than no work?
Please please advise, now i'm really worried:eek:0 -
I have just read the entire thread again i dont want to cause any trouble here but i do want to thank Sprintblue for letting us know what the pitfalls are, most of us are totally new to the whole benefits things and come here for sound advise and i believe he has given that, i am sorry if its wrong that i should want to leave my part time job in order to gain help with our mortgage, but how exactly i am expected to pay a £730 mortgage along with bills and food out of my earnings of £104 per week even stretches my imagination.
This IS the kind of information we need to know as this is how it is, these are the rules the benefits people lay down and this is what Sprintblue is letting us know.
This particular ruling is the most absurd i have heard yet and i am extremely greateful to Sprintblue for pointing out this particular pitfall:T to be forewarned is to forearmed, so yes HUGE thankyou to you Sprintblue:T0 -
If the rate hadnt been held for six months in november at 6.08% it would now be 2.08%,I suspect any new change will be announced in the budget, hopefully taking into account that many are still paying 5%+,it may well be that they will do away with a universal rate and actually pay each individuals interest rate, maybe with a 5% cap?
time will tell
I hope so, as 2.08% is not going to help people on fixed rates, but I cant see how they can do this, as people on trackers etc, the rate is changing all the time! Typical that as soon as I am eligable it will go down to this 2% rate, when my rate is a lot higher than that!Pawpurrs x0 -
Can somebody, anybody, help me please. I applied for this over a month ago and my bank have filled out there side of the forms and sent them back to my local job centre. I have heard nothing so have tried chasing them up but was put through to FIVE different departments all telling me they could'nt help until finally i was put through to the Belfast office. They say they have received nothing from my bank and I have to send out the forms AGAIN, I have to fill out all the forms AGAIN and send them to the bank AGAIN and wait for them to send them to the job centre AGAIN, all of which is probaly going to take another month. What can I do ?
Im fully entitled to this benefit yet cant get it because other people are either lying or being incompetent. I cant pay my mortgage now this month, can anyone please give me any advise.
How do I know this isnt all going to happen again, and the Job Cetnre deny getting the forms ?
Thankyou0 -
i am a single parent, I lost my job as the company I worked for went into administration, I bought my ex husband out 3 years ago because the kids wanted to come home, I am on a interest only Mortgage,I could not afford the income protection, as well as life insurance and buildings insurance and all the other bills, Because i got the house i have had to pay a legal bill to do with divorce and children of 17k attached to the house as a standing charge, My house is in negative equity but its not a money box as i said before my children wanted to come home,
Yesterday I had a "discussion" with the mortgage benifits office were a very snotty woman informed me as I was having WFTC before i went on to IS I am not entited to help intill 39 weeks have passed.
My mortgage is £410 a month,
I claim CTC,CB and IS which in total is abot £740 a month, I have Council tax benifit I have to pay all other bills out of £330 a month, If i was in rented I would get housing benifit. I cant live on this. with 2 children.
I am activley looking for work but every job there is over 50 applicants.
I have always had a job, and this is the only time I have had to claim, if there was a job i would do it, as i would be better off, just seams a stupid rule... if I was single with out kids I would have help with my morgage!
I spoke to my MP yesterday and he is looking into it.
but it doesnt help me now does it?
I cant get payment holidays on my mortgage(HSBC) wont let me as they dont do it on interest only.
I have posted this on my own thread but I just noticed this thread... HELP!!BR on 21st December 2009.. life begins!0 -
Sadly and wrongly single people under 25 get a very raw deal when it comes to benefits,or virtually non existant benefits
hate to correct you but we're a couple (ok so over 25 although I WISH I were still under 25) with one child under 2. My OH was self employed with no work coming in so he de registered, signed on, only to be told that on income based JSA he was entitled to zero as I earn £630 gross a month and we get CTC and WTC but have £450 childcare fees a month while I'm at work. No HB/ LHA, mortgage of £427 a month, pay all our own bills and no Council tax benefit. Because he was entitled to zero, although still signing on for NI purposes we were then told we weren't entitled to Mortgage interest help. Our mortgage company hasn't made up it's mind yet about signing up to other government schemes (the Chelsea) so we're stuffed. We're surrendering our property and renting privately - LHA top up here we come. It'll still be very tight but better.0 -

It sounds like your forms are lost.
The form needs to go from your lender to the Mortgage team for district NOT the JSA office you signon(in my experience they tend to loose forms letters etc etc)
Once you know the lender has sent the form, try and make contact with the Mortgage Team ... It is worth while getting their first and last name. Then at least you can email them (Typically fn.ln@dwp.gsi.gov.uk or fn.ln@jobcentreplus.gsi.gov.uk)
With regard to the Thanks above, I am please you see the gotchas ...
Just so you know the first £10earned is disregarded ..... but the real horror story is that your hubby(if you keep your PT job) will have to fill in form B7 AND supply all the wage slips ..... if these don't reach in time or are lost ... you get NO money at all....and if on SMI .. no mortgage payment .... until it is ALL sorted outHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam No idea why you removed it as it was something I learnt from this site - bizarre0 -

what i refered to were people under 25 who DO GET a raw deal when it comes to benefits,of course if your OH isnt working you could save £450 a month if he looked after the child, could you not?0 -
