a-s...good to see you're done....just, as RIK said earlier, switch off spybot's tea-timer (advanced mode, tools, resident, ensure tea-timer is NOT ticked) and you should be a happy bunny :)

edit - oops...sorry, missed out Tools in the path......

  • For some reason, despite having deleted limewire, I still have a folder in my documents, and it won't be deleted for love nor money. It's not causing any harm, but it's frustrating it won't go away!!!!

So which one would you recommend me to use, as an alternative to Limewire, as I'm not using that again.

Thank you so much for your help.

One other quick question. I can't find 'tea time' mode on spybot. I also saw the immunise bit and did a scan, it showed there were a few programmes that weren't protected, but I can't see how to get them 'protected' so to speak..... ! Its says I have 29 unprotected 'Default IP's' under the Internet Explorer section, and it also shows 9948 unprotected under Windows Global (hosts) - is that anything to be concerned about?

Thank you for all your help so far, you're lifesavers!!

Spybot has a 'file deletion' option which might destroy the folder for you

Follows jacks advice to stop 'tea timer' mode :)

  • Right, after re-reading it I followed it and has taken it out of tea timer mode. I am still none the wiser as to why to do this but I rely on your good advice.

I still can't get rid of the limewire folder, despite not having limewire on my pooter anymore :-(

    Thanks

a-s....start up spybot and update, go to immunise and it will check what is/isn't immunised, and when it's finished, press the green cross to immunise...once it's finished, you should have around 92-93,000 objects protected and none unprotected...

In Spybot goto TOOLS and SECURE SHREDDER

Try to destroy the folder with it in (Might need to switch off your anti virus first)

  • the Trojan is back?!!!! What on earth?? I don't know why.... I have only downloaded one thing from Vuze last night, which might be the issue, I'm not sure, so I'm doing a scan with SAS again.

    Any suggestion???

Once its seemingly gone this time, use CCLEANER to remove all temp files (Where they sometimes reside) and DONT do a system restore

  • All seems well, so touch wood, it's all fixed.

Thank you so much for all your help and advice. I have learnt quite a lot - and learnt not to get my knickers in a twist when something goes askew with my pooter, I can just get on here and ask and take a deep breath.
