I got this trojan from downloading something from Limewire, I have all the Norton 360 and firewalls and everything and normally really careful.
I read the advice on how to get rid of it on symantec but it won't leave..... I am getting myself in a right pickle because I am generally okay to do things, not an expert, but can follow the instructions.
Why won't it leave?! I am now running a AVG Anti Virus Scan, which hasn't finished yet, but I read that was better than some of the others, but I am not holding my hopes up. Can anyone help me before my laptop gets launched through the window in to the soggy rainy garden.
Thank you
A_S xx

yeah....use avast or avira anti-virus
seriously, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, update and full scan....delete everything it finds.....post the log, and we'll take it from there......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Okay, thank you..... I will do that and get back to you, as it takes a while. I am doing a full computer scan with AVG anti-virus at the mo...... I even know which file I was downloading at the time as well, for some reason it was going slow, I got bored, so stopped it and so it was incomplete, but it's still done it.
I am so annoyed, but thank you in advance for your help, I'll post it soon xxxx** Getting back in the swing of saving again.... **

Id suggest uninstalling limewire. Its a computer killer...........
I also believe you have both Norton 360 AND avg?? Thats really NOT wise. Uninstall AVG using the removal tool
http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Then id suggest the following ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
Download SUPERANTISPYWARE (Top right)
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
UPDATE and SCAN
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Top right)
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
SCAN and post the log so we can see whats running:idea:0 -
Also, you said 'firewalls' (Plural). If thats true, you really must uninstall all but one (And switch off windows firewall):idea:0

erm
Ive never needed to use the removal tool myself. Have you chosen the 32bit option? (Top one)
It should just 'work' that im aware of.
Ive just downloaded it now and it asked me if I was happy to delete all AVG software and it may need 1 or 2 reboots to complete.:idea:0 -
this one....
