    lexa34 - Not full HD so won't get the absolute best out of Sky HD, but still looks good value. A plasma is also generally better at doing SD stuff than LCDs.

    almillar... that's not the case. Sky only broadcast at 720... so full HD only needed for bluray or PS3

    Wrong. Sky HD is broadcast at 1080i.

    SD = Standard Definition
    HD = High Definition
    Full HD = Even Higher Definition, lol

    For someone with poor eyesight, anything will do, size is probably more important than resolution.

    Sky broadcast 720p and some 1080i....not 1080p. Full HD does not make a discernable difference when viewing Sky HD

    Wrong again. All Sky HD is broadcast at 1080i because of the bandwidth, although you can set the STB to output at 720p.

    I’ve recently purchased two Technika 32" HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview & DVD player 32-601, I brought one for my sister's birthday and was so impressed I brought one for myself and it’s likely Christmas time will bring one for my mum too! Its back in stock again and available for £349.97 + Quidco +double clubcard points +a free delivery code (the latter two deals end tomorrow I think).

    They also have an excellent deal on the same TV without the integrated DVD player for £249.97:

    I have a 42" Toshiba Regza which is a 1080i TV and with Sky HD I reckon the picture quality is pretty poor - in fact I think Sky HD isn't worth the money because the picture quality isn't that much better (except for football?).
    I have set my Sky HD box to output at 720p because the TV upscales, but changing the output to 1080i doesn't make a lot of difference anyway.
    If I buy a true 1080p TV will I get much improvement over a 1080i from Sky HD? Or will it make no difference - I don't want to spend a load of dosh at the minute if Sky HD will be just as bad on the new TV. Advice please.
