    So I'm looking at this...

    Foehn & Hirsch 32" HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV Freeview 450cd/m2 3000:1 8ms HDMIx3/VGA/Scart X 2 Glossy Black 3 Years Warranty
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154997

    It's £279.97inc vat, which isn't bad at all for a 32" telly.

One thing I do know is that Foehn & Hirsch is eBuyer's own brand, but really, so long as it's good, and does the job, what's wrong with that? After all it has got a 3 year warranty. Not even Samsung offers that!

I had a look at the list here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-LCD-HDTV

And none of them even compare. They are either ugly, less features, or expensive (over £300).

Am I overlooking something here or is it simply a good deal?

This also looks good for £45 more...

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159449

I'm not sure what to make of it all...

I just had to answer to this one. Hitachi are head & shoulders above Samsung as a brand name of quality goods. I say this as the owner of a few Samsung products.

Wholeheartedly agree. Our Hitachi has lasted us maintenance free for years. Excellent quality.

I am looking at these again and although the Sense looks better on paper, the build quality is no where near as nice as the ebuyer own brand.

For £45 quid more, i'm not sure I want something that looks worse, even if the picture quality may be better...

I had a 32" HDTV that came free with a phone contract! The make is TECO and i have to admit i am impressed with it. The sound was tinny but i have a surround sound set up anyway (acoustic solutions) and its great:beer:

  • on the new offers posted, is the Vistron 32" HD-Ready LCD w/Freeview ex display?

This is what it appears to come as on the ebuyer site....

If you're not necessarily looking for the cheapest screen possible, but are looking for a good quality "full HD" screen that's smaller than 32", why not buy a 24" LCD computer monitor with an HDMI input?

Bang for buck, monitors are much better quality screens as they don't come with a crappy built-in non-HD digital tuner circuit, nor a huge advertising budget. They are built with sharpness in mind for business users but with good performance in mind for gamers. The monitor market is more competitive so it's much easier to pick up a decent screen on a budget (but don't buy a lemon just to save £10). If you will only use your HDTV for Xbox360/PS3 or movies then this is surely the best approach. And you can plug your PC or laptop into it to watch downloaded movies or browse the net, even better!

    Iiyama 24" LCD monitor (16:9 1080p) with HDMI input - £204.99

Samsung do similar "proper" TVs but they're more expensive and not as good as the Iiyama. They do come with a crappy built-in freeview tuner but I'll come to that again in a mo.

There are loads with similar price and spec, and all computer components suppliers (e.g. Scan.co.uk, Dabs.com, Microdirect.co.uk) will have a good selection so you can probably shop around to find the same screen cheaper elsewhere. Overclockers.co.uk (above) has user reviews, and good special offers each week so it's worth checking them out.

    IMPORTANT:
You'll need a digibox with HDMI output to use these monitors, and that's usually only on Freesat and SkyHD boxes. However, you'd be mad to buy an HDTV and not get Freesat (or SkyHD). It costs just £70 for a lifetime of free HD television viewing pleasure. And for those with an existing Sky Digital dish, Maplin Freesat STB with HDMI and PVR capability - £69.99.

If you can survive without an HDMI input:
    Acer 23" LCD monitor (16:9 1080p) - £139.99
    Dell 24" LED monitor (16:9 1080p) with 1,000,000:1 contrast - £224.99

Just remember that monitors are NOT TVs, so anything other than 24" will probably be of no use to you as a HDTV because the screen resolution will be wrong. Look out for this. "Full HD" should be 1920x1080. For "HD ready" this is 1280x720, which is what you would usually get with 17" or 19" monitors and you can pick these up for well under a ton.

:mad:We are currently experiencing problems with our recent purchase of a Dual 32" flatscreen tv with built in hard drive recorder from Ebuyer. The first one brought in May went wrong in June(no picture),returned this & got replacement within a week.5 days later replacement set had same problem!Tried to get refund as not happy but was told they operate a 3 strike rule & we would have to have another replacement,so have sent 2nd one back & are waiting for 3rd set to arrive!Any bets on this one going wrong?
Have just read my emails & have been fully refunded by ebuyer!!!Yippee!!Needless to say I won't be buying anything more from them!Didn't even get an apology.

I would insist on another make or my money back, whichever you want. I WOULD NOT ACCEPT another TV of a make that has let me down twice. I don't care what the supplier says. GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
    Nice to save.

    Hi all.

In case it hasn't been mentioned try idealkit.co.uk All their TV's are really cheap and delivery is only £17.75. We got the BEKO 32" HD ready with built in Freeview for £229 plus the delivery. Had it a few months now and so far so good. Works well, very easy to use & loads of connections.

    Cheers.
