    I do!

I live in Southampton which was given a new dialling code of 023 a couple of years ago. That 023 was followed by an 80 (added to the old six digit phone number) so all phone numbers in Southampton are now 023 80123456.

Does that not get confusing everyone having the same number!

Is it not possible to unpack it carefully enough to try it?

Anyway this one on Ebuyer looks promising, limited reviewers so far but detailed. 42" HD TV £499 inc shipping.

There's another one on Ebuyer today for £360 incl vat and shipping - 42" LCD......BUT it's from a make I've never heard of, and there are no reviews, so I wouldn't risk it first. But it's half the price of most mainstream LCD 42" ones - plasma are cheaper....

If I get a flyer on my doorstep that says the phone number is now 02380 123456 I simply presume that the owner of the company is a moron and I don't want anything to do with h/ir. I don't want to deal with anyone who is too stupid to understand the telephone.

    Codes are important!

    lol weird.

There's no need to be pedantic - by saying a statement like "it is not a uk dialling code" it sounds like it is the dialling code for another country.

When i make advertising with phone numbers on I try and make it as clear as possible for the customer and if ALL phone numbers were 02380 then I'd put it 02380 123456 as that is obviously more clear as you don't even need to think about the 80, as all numbers start with that.

Equally, obviously 020 is the dialling code, but I would still say that 0207 is the dialling code because the 7 is not unique to an individual phone number.

OK, I'm really not a nerd, but my curiosity is now piqued! I was living in London when the code system was changed to 020. At that time, your number most definitely started with a 7 if you were inner London, and with an 8 if you were an outer borough (bizarrely, a '7' starter was much more covetable!) - there was no '3' starting any numbers as mentioned earlier. Is the system different now then - i.e. the 7, 8 (or 3) is not linked to an inner or outer London designation? If so, is this because old reassigned numbers and new numbers, can be allocated to any area of London? (The actual London code though, is just '020' and should be written in the format 020 71234567 - this format was also on the original literature circulated at the time of the switchover).

Ooh no, that doesn't work cos if you put '0207 746578' your customers might think that within London they could just dial the bit after the space (thus omitting the external code) but that obviously wouldn't work because to dial the number locally, you need the '7'.

Surely all the talk about dialling codes belongs more in the rant section or somewhere because this is meant to be a thread about TVs.
    Nice to save.

I seriously wouldnt scrimp and try and save £50 by buying inferior makes like Hitachi etc......

I would rather stick with brands like Samsung, Sony, Panasonic etc which are quality.

I wasn't sure if this was a good buy so I hesitated (idiot). Argos were doing a 42" Hitachi (2 actually but one was showing out of stock) for £449 yesterday, however today it seems to have gone back uo to £587.They have started a new promo though not for the 42". Do you think they will come back down again? Or does anyone know of the best deals around for a 42" with decent spec and name.

Can you confirm that this tv is now priced at £399 or was it a different tv?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
