I made a visit to selfridges yesterday and enquired about the Panasonic 32LZD85 (Thats the 100Mhz, 1080P model) and a very helpful chap told me it would be worth waiting another three weeks as the newest models are coming in and those will push down the prices of the existing tvs available. So could be worth waiting a month if your planning on making a big tv purchase, might save you a few.

I was told by a retailer that the struggling pound will make any new imports even more expensive.

With these new imports being more expensive, the older stock and models would probably stay as they are in terms of price.

Not read the rest of the posts - but has anyone mentioned whether the tvs they have bought have been up to the spec that was expected? My information is that crt displays (the older big ones) are better quality than lcd displays...

I would strongly recommend searching out the KDL32V4000 instead, the L is bottom of the range.

Not necessarily. When our Wharfedale CRT TV stopped working, we bought the Sony KDL32V4000 LCD TV, and it still takes my breath away (two months after buying it) every time I see it in action, it is absolutely miles ahead of the Wharfedale in terms of picture quality. Also the picture is much better at home than the one in the shop, as they obviously hadn't calibrated the shop display one properly.

However, if you have a really top quality CRT TV (which the Wharfedale CRT TV certainly wasn't, not by any stretch of the imagination) then a new LCD might not be significantly better in picture quality.

My advice would be to wait until your current TV stops working before buying a new LCD TV, don't buy it purely for snob value.

Toshiba do a great 19 & 22" HD Ready LCD with DVB Freeview DivX DVD HDMI etc etc...

Also encountered a Kenmark 19 & 22" HD Ready LCD with DVB Freeview DivX DVD HDMI etc...that also has iPod docking bay intergrated that can be controlled via the remote too. Of course, panel wont be as good as the Tosh or some of the Samsungs out there...

Both at Comet, JL do the tosh only I believe. Both are feature rich and well designed and have a good price point for the feature set/quality.

You get what you pay for at the end of the day. Prices are going up by the way - and they will continue to do so too...

Not really. The whole point of sites likes this is that by shopping around, you can buy a quality product at a bargain price.

Only temporarily due to currency fluctuations, the overall trend in LCD and Plasma TVs has been a substantial price reduction over the last few years, which is set to continue.
