MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Would you ask for your tip back?

35% is a signicant amount to pay in addition to an original sum and as the service was "not special" to pay this amount would not be appropriate either to your bank balance, your own peace of mind or to the service provider. I'm sure in a restaurant where a meal for two is as little as £40 the waitress would be surprised by such a gratuity and would have no problem refunding the £10. The primary moral duty here is to yourself i.e. the duty of self respect and balanced transaction sense.0

I'd ask for it back - I never tip using my credit card as many establishments don't pass credit card tips onto their staff! Plus if you tipped in cash you wouldn't have that problem in the first place!Money can't buy you happiness, but it sure helps!0

what the hell are you doing spending £40 on a meal out let al;one over tipping??? Come on, get a grip, ask for your Tip back and an explanation of why the bill was so HIGH in the first plac e..:j:mad:
You don't get out much do you? lolMoney can't buy you happiness, but it sure helps!0 -
Definitely ask for it back. Would have been better to have checked it first.
I've run my own hotel and restaurant and never ever included a service charge in the bill, let alone on a credit card voucher. My staff have always been paid well and give a good service. Should customers think so as well, they're encouraged to leave cash and my staff get to keep all tips.
For a restaurant to include such a charge into the bill and especially when it's to be paid by CC is a shame and what the industry is definitely NOT about in my view.
And whenever I've had a customer with the attitude likebennett2kuk wrote: »I hate the idea of tipping in restaurants. I simply don't care about the service as they are simply doing their job ......
............... That's just the way it is.0 -

I wouldn't tip through my card, I would always tip in cash. I have always been of the opinion that if it goes on the machine the people who deserve the tip don't see it!
I do have issues with tipping! I never know how much to tip! I always thought in America it was 10% but recently on a trip there it was 15% and put on the bill! Taxi drivers? Hairdressers? What do you give them~ if anything? If I go for a facial do you give them a tip? But at the end of the day they are getting paid to do a job. Low pay or High pay they still get paid. If I wasn't polite and good at my job I wouldn't have a Job!0 -
Why tip anyway? I worked in restaurants for over 8 years and still dont understand.
In USA OK, In UK no way.
How can you not understand if you think it's okay in one country but not another?
If you think it's okay in the USA, then you must understand the concept. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
