Sheesh.
Just call me picky.s/e0 -

It's just hard when he's done everything in his power to help and support me over the years and I feel that this is a time of role reversal, when I have to look out for him for our sake - so that he's still around iykwim.
Intellectually, I completely understand and recognise the correct thing to do is as you say, but emotionally, it's not that easy, of course. I'll keep those words in mind though. Thank you.
I also think it might be neccessary to sort out what you can do from what you feel you ought to do. Oh, and just scrap the stuff you can't physically do. If he wants his garden digging over, let him pay for a gardener or just a labourer. Whilst I agree that we generally feel that we have some responsibility for our parents as they age and become infirm, I think we also have to be aware of our own limitations. We can't do it all, and it would be unreasonable to expect ourselves to do it all.s/e0 -

I really, really object to all that fake bouncy, cheerful, dumbed down talk coming out of the phone when all I want is some advice/help. (Oh, and I wasn't impressed with the chap who thought he was playing a leading role in a high drama event, either.)
:rotfl: I had forgotten about him! He was soooo straight from an amateur dramatics society.
I had just hoped to be able to influence something a bit more, ermm important, I suppose. But then they have real experts for that not just us; the users. :rolleyes:I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

I think you might need to give this a bit of time - they are a recent innovation and it's likely to take a bit of time to find their feet with regard to service user input.
And don't forget that we're doing this over the internet. So there is going to be a limit to what we can participate in. Did you by any chance get a nemail from them this morning? If you didn't, I can forward my one to you.s/e0 -
Afternoon all.
Well, here we are at the start of another week. Great news that Sharon's home.
Well, I've had a busy weekend. We took the faulty pasta maker back to John Lewis, and I got a refund. I didn't want to exchange it - I've had that malarkey before, with a food grater from Lakeland. The one I bought broke almost immediately, they replaced it, and the replacement went in the same place. So I got my money back - and Lakeland have stopped stocking that model.
Anyway, I figure that the pasta machine was going to be too much hard work to use in any case (hurt my arms turning the handle, as it was so stiff) so I'll manage with a rolling pin and a husband with a sharp knife.:D
Sue mobility scooters are great - Mr LW bought me one for my birthday last year, it's wonderful when we have Molly Dog to stay, I just wish there were more places around here for me to go. What we have decided though, is once the weather is a bit warmer, we'll go for a trundle round the green area and past the Roman ruins sometimes, just for a bit of fresh air.
Raeh have you spoken with the GP yet?
CwtA good luck with "babysitting" your Dad. I can't begin to imagine what it's like for you.
There was more I was going to reply to, but the brainfog has struck again:( Actually, my short-term memory seems to be on the blink. So many times, Mr LW will refer to something that happened the previous day, and I have absolutely no recollection of it whatsoever.
Oh yes, while I think aout it, the landlord of our favourite pub has offered to host a quiz night in aid of St Thomas' Lupus Trust. What a nice man! The last one he did was for Leukaemia (sp?) research. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Ha! LW, I was waiting on CwtA, to jump on raeh but I think she will still be at school. I had a little bet with myself that she would get on her case before four o'clock :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I do have some self-restraint ya know
s/e, thanks. I did get the email from them this morning which was what had got me thinking about it. Absolutely with you about a cool, clear, calm and collected voice that carries some authority when you call.
Have been kicking my heels here today waiting to go out to do an audit at 3pm. Now I don't really want to move as the sun is shining on the corner where I'm sitting. D'ya think perhaps that Spring has sprung??I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

I think I'm going to give in to it and go up to bed for a while. Perhaps it'll settle down a bit if I can get comfy.s/e0 -

cwta i have complete sympathy for you regarding your dad, iv had the same situation for years and all was copeable [is that a word??] until my step father died suddenly and there was noone to over see things  as s/e said you cant control everything constantly [ i thought i could!!] and YOU will never be able to change things... i had to actually walk away for a while [im not sure if you get the abuse? but it made me more ill] and let everything hit total rock bottom and now that has improved things?? You do allow it to happen and keep happening by making sure everything is safe. But i understand completely the feeling of needing to do that. I hope the week goes ok and please dont do any more than you can without making yourself very ill. sorry rambled on there
