  • I used to have two cats. One called Gideon who was so clever. She used to lift the letterbox flap repeatedly to make it knock when she wanted to come in. The other was Paddy who was proper thick! We got him from Ireland as he was going to face the bucket  Gideon didn't suffer fools and always used to give him a clip round the ear when he passed her. He used to lay on the traffic island (we also lived on a main road) and bat the car wheels when the cars went past. His lack of anything cerebral was his downfall though as he never learnt to be wary of strangers. He came home one night pouring with blood. Someone had shot him in the eye and he lost his eye. Another time he was acting like he was trying to be sick. When I picked him up and went to loosen his collar, I discovered someone had tied metal wire round his throat and hidden it under his collar. Poor little mite was choking. Someone had also been at him with a firework or something one time too. He eventually went missing, no doubt the b******s who were doing all those things to him killed him.

He really did give the Irish a bad name though :D
  • thanx for the replies so far folk.
i was so worried today,i either thought i was getting dementia or had suffered a mild stroke at sometime.
    its so scary isnt it

    xxxxxxxxxx
  • Yeah, I used to be very scared but now I laugh at myself. They (docs) thought that I may have had a stroke as I also kept experiencing partial paralysis and never actually told me what caused it. My father-in-law told me the other week (he is a physio) that it because the muscles are trapping some nerves. It's amazing how simple it is and I thought it was something far more serious.

My friend was telling me that when he was in hospital a lad came in completely paralysed from sneezing!! Docs said it would right itself eventuall as it was just nerves that were trapped and indeed it did but how freaky is that!

  • sounds absoluitely delicious Jamla......have u got any leftovers lol?
  • sue, what a nice thing for dh and dd to do. any chance that dd was feeling an ickle bit *g* word? Hope that it's as nice and mild with you as it is here and that you have a good weekend.

Raeh thank you for the good wishes. I hate form filling now. My cat is scared stiff of crinkly tunnels - such a wuss.

kass, your cats sound lovely. I used to have one cat that we called our Special Needs cat. She wasn't the brightest bunny hopping in the forest - she used to stick her head inbetween the radiator panels to keep warm until her fur was almost smoking! Her brother was just a doofus - he used to play - whats that game with seats where they take away the chairs? He used to try to beat you to whatever seat you were aiming for to sit there first and then complain loudly when he was moved.

I had restless legs last night - I was so tired that I was almost sobbing as all I wanted to do was sleep and my legs were keeping me awake. Such an uncomfortable feeling.

BZ has been busy shopping for bridesmaid dresses (don't think she'll mind me telling you as it's about THAT day)and I hope she'll find the brain space to catch up with you all soon.

Stomach is rumbling now, so lunch calls.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

I got the mobility scooter, it's a small one that comes apart to fit in the car boot which is great as long as Ive got dh with me as its quite heavy. Theres one other problem, I cant go out unless he's here to lift it down the front door step  I need a ramp, just looked on EBay and they are around £100  I spoke to ds1 who is a builder, he said he could build me a slope instead of a doorstep, but then theres still the bottom of the front door to get over, so I think I will ring the OT's and ask for an assesment for a ramp, even if we have to pay for it at least they know what their doing, ds's better at building houses and walls ;)

It's lovely outside, my dog has been sunbathing in the back garden, she's nearly 11 and loves the sun.
Kass I nearly cried when I read what happened to poor little Paddy bless him, I dont know how peole can be so cruel.

  • Evening folks, nice to see you're all still here, and pleased to read that Sharon should soon be home. Thanks seaside for keeping us posted.

Erm Rae have you done anything about seeing a GP this week? Don't want to nag sweetheart, but I think you should. Given how tired and painful you are all the time, and given that you do have abnormal blood tests (even if they're only slightly abnormal), I think further investigation is warranted.

At one point, when seeing my Rheumy, she told me that I appeared to have a virus of some kind. I pointed out that I'd been getting a 'viral infection' indicator for close on 17 years by that point and I couldn't have had a virus for that long. It sort of spurred her on to investigate further. And I have to second what Auntie Axe said (although I believe I did say something similar in the first fibro thread), if you don't slow down a bit your body will put the brakes on for you and it'll take you a damned sight longer to get over it when it does happen. Trust me - this relapse really hit 3 years ago, and I'm still not much better than I was when I first went sick. Eek! I've just checked the date on my work diaries - it was 2004 when I went sick, so nearly 4 years now.

Auntie Axe I do hope that your father isn't putting too much strain on you. Remember, I'm available if you want to get anything off your chest. Oh, and if you do decide to move back to the south east, you can't go 'til we've met at least once. :p

Everyone else, I trust you're all keeping as well as can be expect, and remember - if you are in any doubt that spring is just around the corner... I've had a steady stream of copulating amphibians traipsing through my garden today so the warmer weather isn't far away.

Wahay! Way to go Sue! There'll be no stopping you now. Just remember to keep an eye on the battery level. Nowt like going for a nice long trundle, only to find you haven't got enough juice to get yourself home again. ;)
