Hi Paparika, welcome to the Fibro thread, Im sorry you've been dx with Fibro, it's not an easy illness, not that any are I know, but there are no formal tests for it at the moment, so some drs refuse to even believe in it.
If you want some more info on fibro try www.ukfibromyalgia.com , I used to go on there a lot, not so much since I found this group though. We dont always talk about Fibro, it would be too deprow your illness depressing if thats all we talked about, but we will always try and help with any questions you have as long as they aren't about medication, you have to discuss that with your dr or on that website above. They can also help you with any benefits advice, although we will try our best on that.
Having Fibro wont automatically mean your entitled to any benefits, they are usually tested on how your illness effects you, not what you have.
I personally cant give you any advice on your job, although Im sure some of the others here will give you more advice, all I can say is as Fibro affects everyone differently, only you really know what you can and can't do. I tried to carry on working for 4 years, but had to give in eventually when my symptoms became much more severe, but I know some people with Fibro who can and do work still even if it means cutting their hours, or changing jobs.
Maybe it would be an idea to see your gp and tell him of your dx if he hasnt heard from the consultant yet, ask if he/she knows much about fibro, if they do then ask if they think you can realisically keep working or not and if they admit they dont know much about it then you could ask if anyone else in the practise does, or ask him if he will read up on it and you will come back next week when hes more informed. You can also ask him about medication.
Good luck, dont forget ask away with any questions, and we will try to help you.
Just remembered the best book on Fibro ever and you can get it on Amazon marketplace cheap, its called ' Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial pain a survival manual'by Devin Starlanyl and Mary Ellen Copeland.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Nice to see Raeh online - I was getting worried. And welcome Paprika.
Suep sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth - like, er, OUCH!! Hope being on penicillin doesn't spoil your holiday.
I'm really tired again today - I always seem to overdo it at the weekend and then spend Monday flaked out, no use to man nor beast. I just never seem to learn
I'm sure there was more I was going to say, but it's gone out of my head for now. Back later if I remember what it was.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
hi, I haven't read through all the posts today. I have been away for a few days in Scotland, gorgeous weather and home to rain but it has cleared up now.
suep I hope you get your tooth/absess sorted out soon. Especially hope you get it sorted before you go away. DH won a weekend away last year and I went with him with an absess. Didn't enjoy myself at all.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Pooh Welcome back. I love Scotland but haven't been for many years - unusual for the weather to be good there! *g*
paparika I can't add much to what sue has already said which is excellent advice. I think time will tell you whether you feel able to work or not - Fibro is such a fluctuating condition. Pleased that you have the Union on your side and don't forget ACAS too. Problems with your employment are hell on top of dealing with and getting your head round a new diagnosis.
We've all found lots of ways of coping with various things through personal experience, so please do pick our brains - no matter what the problem, you can almost be sure that one of us will have come across it before.
I started running on empty in terms of sleep this afternoon so after Mystery Shop this morning, I went back to bed for a couple of hours and feel very much better for it. I think the getting up hen I wake early has been a bit of mind over matter and I need to remember the reality of tiredness, particularly after the move and with still getting straightened out, and take naps etc when I need to instead of trying to go storming on through it.
Hugs to you all and spesh to sue with her poorly tooth.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Isn't alcohol a sterilising agent
Just as well Trailia, If it doesn't get any better Im going to end up on a liquid diet.
It's got worse from this morning and by teatime I could hardly open my mouth, so I had some soya ice cream, then tried a banana, but I couldnt open my mouth wide enough to take a bite and had to break bits off
thats all Ive managed, and I am hungry. Now Ive started the penicillin hopefully it wont get any worse, and by Wednesday might even be a tiny bit better (crosses fingers)
lw Do you think you could use soya milk and cream in an ice cream maker ? I buy Swedish Glace which is lush, but quite expensive and Ive been wondering if I could make my own. Im not a big jam eater, but I could live on ice cream, which is just as well at the moment, as its about all I can eat
Sharon your weekend sounds lovely, I hope your going to be ok with the radiotherapy, my Dad said a pint of Guinness a day kept him going through the chemo and radiotherapy ! he calls it his medicine :rotfl:
Thanks for the hug cwta and everything else, you are a great friend :AReal stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.
