    :rotfl:Usually!

I've just had a sweat on looking for my birth certificate, which isn't in the "very safe place" that I would've thought I'd've put it in! Have rung my parents though, and being the type of triplicate copy people that they are ;), they have the big copy and are sending it recorded delivery today. Phewf! Now to find DF's! _pale_

although I did get a crochet pattern for a baby jumper (Shssssh don't tell Suep:D). .

Aaahhh thankyou UNITY can you believe I havn't brought anything for the baby yet, it's not due until November though so theres plenty of time and we are putting a bit of money by each week for it like we did for the other 2.

Im not sure where the crutiate ligament is and at a guess this is one of the words that had BZ confused ;) I hope ds does well with his exams and really happy for Mr Unity.

BZ hope you find df birth certificate. Im glad to hear Im not the only one who things go wrong for, but nothing is going to go wrong for your wedding, it wouldn't dare ;)

    Sharon good luck for Monday

Kass Hope you manage to get a proper nights sleep tonight and find somewhere to live soon.

Im going to try to stop buying stuff online, Im getting addicted to buying old cheap books on Amazon and stuff on ebay, I never spend huge amounts, but buy lots of cheap things and its adding up a bit now so its got to stop. It's not like spending real money is it, Id never buy as much as I have lately in the shops. So from now on I can come on here and read my emails and thats all :o

Lol - parentals are sending the big copy to me by recorded delivery, but I'm beggared if I can find my copy! :o Mil2b thought she knew where various copies of DF's are but when I went round to take her dispersable aspirin (and fags ) she hadn't managed to find it so DF will have to look on Sunday... I've just realised that I've left my mobile at Mil2b's and DF is supposed to be ringing me to let me know to come for him when he finishes work! Doh! I can't be bothered to go back for it now as I have Buddy puppy with me (to cheer DF up) and don't want to keep carting him back and forth and confusing Molly dog who is still at home with Mil2b...but can I find the number for the hotel to tell him to ring me on the (now put in) house phone?? No! :rotfl:

I know the cruciate ligament is in or near the knee suep but it was all the asbestos, Mr Unity, stuff that got me confused :o

I did manage to go and get the dreaded passport photos done so I can now apply for my renewed photocard license (it expires beginning of May) and for my new passport in my new name...which will be very weird to see!!

Hi folks. Just to let you know, I got the letter yesterday to say I've been turned down for both components of DLA. Even though I knew this was likely, and have been preparing myself for it, I'm gutted. The way the letter is written, it feels as though it's saying 'thank you for your application but we've decided you're a liar'.

I'm in a complete dilemna. I need to cut my working hours but can't afford to. The letter came at the end of a really bad week (too much pain, too much work) and has felt like a body blow.

I've spoken to the CAB person who helped me fill in the application form, and we're going to send a letter in for a reconsideration. She's very good, but I just don't feel like I've the energy for another battle over this alongside work. I just want to curl up and disappear for a while.

Sorry. This has been a complete whinge!

jo i am sorry, if they turn down the reconsideration too do appeal, it is worth the effort and hassle and stress if they then award it. im disappointed for you :( is there any way you could "disappear for a while"? a holiday from work even if you dont go anywhere, or a weekend away somewhere for a change of scenery and a rest? im sure you ahve already thought of all those options though. dont be sorry for whingeing, do come and whinge or rant anythime you want, and fwiw i dont see what you posted as a whinge at all.

Good to see you Unity and glad to see you got some good news...even if I don't really understand it all!

Hi BZ, I keep forgetting that asbestos probably doesn't mean much to the youngsters on here :p. Mr U's dad worked as a foreman lagger in the shipyards on the Tyne. He started at 16 and left when he retired a couple of years early to car for his much younger wife (Mr U's ma) who was dying from lung cancer (she'd never smoked). Asbestos comes in many forms and the safer type is still used, but occasionally you'll hear on the news of schools or offices having to be closed because asbestos has been found within the structure and needs to be safely removed by very skilled contractors with breathing apparatus.

Back in the olden days (40's, 50's, 60's maybe even 70's :D) it hadn't been realised that it was so dangerous. In short - you breathe in the dust and it can form pleural placques between the lungs and the ribs which accumulate calcium over time. It is then linked to a disease called mesothelioma which is basically a killer. There is no treatment, no cure and once discovered the average life expectancy is six months to a year. Each weekend from the age of about 10, Mr U used to wait in his dad's warehouse to go out on the company's small launch to fish in the North Sea and there was asbestos of every shape and size stored there - sometimes the air was full of the stuff:eek:.

So as you can imagine after being told Mr U only has a 3% chance of this ever kicking off, it is time for a celebration :dance::dance::dance::beer:.

Hey LW - are you going to be up for the Beltane Bash at Thornborough? We may venture down for a day - but I couldn't manage camping :o and it will have to be good weather as I don't 'do' standing around in the cold and damp, but see how it goes and we can always try and find each other :T.

Suep - Darn it you spotted my pattern post ;). I'm hanging onto it until we know what she's having ;).I know I owe you an e-mail, but I'm still getting used to these new lenses - it's only my second day wearing them and I'm getting headaches which could either be due to my brain learning to cope with them, or it could be the after effects of the shingles/aciclovir. I'm reading 'The Brutal Art' at present so let me know if you haven't read it and I'll send it on - it's very good - well defined characters so I don't get lost off :o, well you know what my memory's like .

I would tell you we're having great weather - but if i did it would jinx it :rotfl:.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

    Hi Unity

No I won't be up to Thornborough; our own lot are having a celebration right here in jolly old MK, so we'll be attending that. Mr LW has got Thursday and Friday off - we also have to do some mundane stuff, like get the car its pre-holiday check, and I have to visit the audiologist to have my hearing aid "tweaked" - and the Earthlore do is on Saturday.:p

Jo sorry to hear you got turned down. What a booger. But do ask for reconsideration; you've come this far, don't just take it lying down.:o

BZ hope you can find DF's birth cert; I know the feeling, we had a minor panic looking for Mr LW's decree absolute, when it was our turn!

Dunno quite what I'm doing online on a Saturday - playing catch-up from doing sweet fa yesterday, I guess.

Hope you're all having a good, peaceful and pain-free weekend.

  • Hey peeps
jo, so sorry to hear your news and I hope that you find the strength to go forward with an appeal. You have a little time to decide anyhow.

kass Way to go! You certainly don't let the grass grow do you!

Just a short post as in internet cafe as connection at hotel is brokeded.

Blowing gales here, so a long walk this morninf where we gt soaked and frozen and a lazy afternoon, looking outof a window at the harbour watching the ship which comes over once a day trying to dock - took him 2 goes. Wouldn't have liked to have been a passenger on that.

Hugs to all - sharon - good luck on Monday sweetie.
    Sending you all hugs
