I forgot to tell you, I used to have fish and wondered what was going on when I noticed the water kept going down quite rapidly.

Mystery solved when I walked in my bedroom to find Gideon with her head in the bowl drinking it :rotfl::rotfl:

The clever little sod had worked out that, that was the only way to get to them!

    Hi all,

I'm a bit more alert today. Not much, but a bit.:D

Actually, I'm a tad down today - sort of had the rug pulled out from under me, somewhat.

Feel free to skip this next paragraph..... Mr LW is 10 yrs older than me, and so I thought it'd only be a few more years til he retires. Yesterday he told me he's not going to retire at all, he wants to carry on working. Nowt wrong with that, and I wouldn't for the world try to stop him, but I'm envisioning the rest of my life spending the majority of my time stuck indoors on my own, and the time feels like it's stretching out in front of me like an endless grey sticky fog iyswim. I'm being 'orribly self-indulgent, I know. Anyway, I can't tell Mr LW, as I don't want him to feel he *has* to retire when he doesn't want to, but I know I can tell you guys.:o

OK, on to more important things.... BZ consider this a reminder to get on top of the insurance thing.

CwtA I'd be totally :eek::eek: if I got a letter about unpaid water rates, even if it wasn't actually to do with me. I think I'd go to the CAB in the first instance.

I don't do Facebook either.... I'm far too scared that somehow my ex-H might find out where I am.

Raeh and Suep I think we need to get tgether and somehow, between us, work out the meaning of "pacing yourself". Then we need to put it into practise.:o

    Unity hope you're OK mate.

Sharon hope you've had a good weekend.

    :hello:to Kass, Trialia and Seaside.
:hello: to anyone I've missed - it's not deliberate.

  • lw, that must have come as a bit of a shock to you if you weren't in any way expecting it.
My first instinct is to try to calmly talk to him about how you feel about it when you're feeling a little less "little". We expect our OH's to know us so well in terms of who we are and how we feel about things, but he may not be aware you feel this way. Maybe there's something else he's thinking of that has made him sway towards this decision that you aren't aware of?
Sit done and have a chat when the time is right. I'm sure he would be devestated to hear what he said has affected you like this.
    Have an 'ug, lovey.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

  • Pierced tongue??!! Tart *g* :p p.s. I've heard that the piercing can close up in a matter of a day without the bar in.
Not just tongues. I had my ears pierced when I was about 12 or 13 - then when I was around 24-25 I had a wee accident that involved resting for a few days. Cos my sleepers had finally given up the ghost I'd been wearing studs but they kept sticking in behind my ears when I was lying down. Took the studs out for about 2 days and then couldn't get the damned things back in again.
Hope your knitting endeavour is going OK. Ribbit
    It's rippit, rippit. :p
Have been getting very restless in the evenings, so have decided to drag out cross stitch or something, so I can occupy myself a bit better and hopefully take the edge off.
How about getting that knitting dvd out and having a go. ;)

Whilst I agree that it must have come as a bit of a shock, there's nothing to say that in 5 years' time he won't have changed his mind again. Or Mr LW might decide to continue working by reduce his hours considerably, so you'd still get to spend more time with him.

    I agree with with Auntie Axe - wait 'til you feel a bit better then have a talk with him about it and what it'll mean to you. {ugs}

    Smarty pants :D
Because then I would end up losing my temper and throwing a tantrum. May take knitting away with me at end of month as I'll be relaxed enough to laugh at myself when it goes wrong.

kass, sorry, in my haste to answer lw, I forgot to say "naughty girl!". Bet you had a whale of a time until you woke the next day. You deserved a day off from stress. HappyBelated Birthday :j

and lw, you aren't being self-indulgent at all. It's safe to talk about things that are worrying/bothering you here. If I can blather on about the water bill ......

    Thank you, CwtA and s/e.

I think Mr LW has never really considered retiring; he lived on his own for 12 years before we met, and he loves his work, so I reckon retirement is just something he hadn't thought of as applying to him. I'm certain he doesn't understand how desperately lonely I am when he's not here.

It wasn't that we were particularly discussing it as such, it was just a passing remark in conversation, (which was about enjoying work or not, and some of the lazy wotnots they have where he works), and he did mention that his grandad worked on well past retirement age (til he died) and his dad would have also, had he lived long enough, so I guess it's a sort of family tradition.:D

Well, we have another 5 years to go before it becomes a reality, in any case - thanks for listening, guys. It helps, it really does.:o

Kass I hope you're feeling a little less - er - fragile. And I like Charlie as a name for the pudd'n-cat. Remember, you have to call him something you're happy to yell down the garden!:rotfl:

blimey started off thinking i knew what to rely to and once i had about 10 different things i promptly forgot them all

ok .... before i had auntie axe hammering on my door pulling my[STRIKE]not so shiny today[/STRIKE] hair, i rang the GP :p . have to ring next week as the gp i want to see is on hols and they arent making apts?.....how irresponsible of her to take a holiday when i need an appointment! i promise i will ring tuesday ;)

auntie axe i hope you hear from ex mil/dil soon :(

LW i can see where you are coming from and agree with s/e [as always ;)] that he may very well change his mind in a few years. My dad has just dropped a day at work, its called something? retirement where he just keeps knocking the hours down gradually? i dont think he like the idea of stopping work all at once? Oh and pacing myself always seems to mean at the moment, rushing through loads of stuff and then collapsing for hours afterwards lol

kass, what on earth are you like :D i hope it was all worth it and you had a fabulous birthday, happy belated birthday xxxx

I thought I'd just drop in before going to see if DF is still at work when I try and pick him up, if I'm not there early/on time I'll not catch him as he's lost his blasted phone charger! Shall I go? I should try shouldn't I?

There are far too many posts to reply to now as I don't have the time but hi all  :D
