Yeah, but there is such a thing as an accumulation of stress (you've been under a fair bit one way or another over the past few months) and she could just have been the straw that broke the camel's back yesterday.

By the way, are you still on the appetite suppresant or have you gone back to your original meds - you did say a while back that the IBS kicked off when you stopped taking the pregablin, didn't you?
Thanks S/e. If it was anything that broke the camel's back it was my parents! Not his! I know what you mean though. I stopped the appetite suppressant (but think it was when you were MIA) after about 6 days. It was driving me crazy. My IBS was unbearable and I was still hungry all the time! The combo of being on them and being without the pregabalin meant I was just a mess, completely knackered all the time, couldn't do anything, felt like death, IBS was horrendous, I was still hungry all the time but cos I had no energy and I didn't trust that anything would stay down I just picked at things, but all the wrong things...you can see where this was going....when I kept getting the horrid nerve feeling - like I wanted to rip off all my fingernails it was the end of the line!

The GP did say though that I was right in thinking that the lack of Pregabalin will've stopped the antispasm effects of those, plus the appetite suppressants will've done nothing but "stimulated" the bowels, both making the IBS worse. And now it's been inflamed it will take a while before the beast is calmed again. PCL I'm the same as you with the every month without fail. Sucks doesn't it?

Suep glad me harping on about Aloe Vera was to some benefit for once, I usually just repeat myself to no avail when it comes to it's wonders ;) I am capable of having "the patience of a saint" sometimes (apparently ;)) but she does go a step beyond at times and I am capable of snapping very out of the blue and sometimes ferociously. I don't like to get to that point though, as it reminds me too much of my dad's volatile temper.

I've come to bed with DF and Buddy dog (we stole him for the night) but I can't sleep, despite reading a book. I quite got into it, considering how rubbish I am at starting a book (once I'm in I'm hooked though), but I my mind kept running so I thought i'd try the puter for a bit.

I feel like I've broken or dislocated my toe. It's really annoying and I can't put any weight on it, but I don't remember doing anything to it, it's not swollen or bruised and I can move my toe perfectly fine - it's actually the joint where the little toe joins the foot that's painful, but only the joint. I'm sure it must be fibro related (tho I'll keep my eye on it just in case) but it's driving me mad and the random pains like this don't usually hang around for so long...

Bah, I can't sleep. My mind finds that bedtime is the best time to start running through everything that has to be done. Because of the wardrobes being erected the house is a bombsite upstairs, I can't find my laundry bin, so I can't do the washing, and I can't put dirty washing in it whilst tidying  It's DF's fault for shifting everything about while trying to help with the wardrobes...wonder if I'll ever find everything again? ;)

By the way, I've just tripped over the ME/CFS board (which trust me, with all the backbiting in there I wish I hadn't!!) and saw some of the awful responses Magenta got over there!!

Magenta if you're still lurking, please come back and let us know you're alright! I think they were really harsh with the posts they replied with, so please don't let them get to you!!

    Afternoon folks.

BZ I hope you're feeling a bit better by now - being sick really is the pits (I know from personal experience). I honestly think a build up of various sources of stress isn't helping you; you seem to have so much on your plate all at once.

Sue yes please, I'd love to see Diamond, when you're able to get your photobucket sorted out. I keep promising myself to sort out the mess mine is in, then I look and think " Elephant task" and bottle out of doing it. I've always just posted links to individual photos, so haven't ever organised things into proper albums.

Raeh just post when you feel you can m'dear, and TRY to get some rest, will you? Actually, if you just pop your head round the door and wave so's we know you're OK, that'd be good, if you don't feel up to saying much.:o

Unlike a lot of you, I prefer a bath to a shower. I can't stand up long enough to shower, and we don't have anywhere for a shower seat. Also, I find a good hot soak eases the murderous pain that seems to rack my entire body these days, morphine notwithstanding. Sure, I can't get out by myself, but Mr LW is always happy to help.;)

This Sunday is the dreaded pub quiz - I'm getting really mega-nervous now. I shall probably be a gibbering wreck long before we have to go.:eek: Keep your fingers crossed folks.

Hope everyone is having a good day today.:o

  • Hi All
I haven't been keeping up with the site for a while, but something has come up and I need some help from you FM sufferers.
When I was reading all your comments regularly I noticed that a lot of you had skin rashes and I wondered when this was, in conjunction to you first getting the symptoms of FM (not when first diagnosed) did you at that time bye any leather furniture or cloths from Matalan. I ask this because this is about the time I started to get a lot worse. Firstly I bought a leather suite in 2001 then I bought some cheap work trousers from Matalan in 2005.
I've just seen an article on the news about Leather Furniture from China having a substance called DMF in it. The cause of the skin and respiratory reactions is believed to be a chemical fungicide known as Dimethyl Fumarate which is an anti moulding agent. If the Chinese use it in one product, they can use it in others. I'd like to know if there is a connection, as the products coming from China have increased tremendously over the last 20 years and so have the instances of FM. We don't know how many other side affects this product may produce. I stopped buying anything from China after I bought the trousers and the Suite is going when my new British one arrives in 6 weeks.
By the way my joint pain has decreased (not gone) since Sept. when my wife and I decided to try The Hay Way of eating. Its not a diet, its a different way of eating. the author of The Hay Way worked out this system of eating in the hope that it would improve his failing health, so I thought what's good for the goose and all that. Anyway, I've lost a stone and my wife has lost 18lbs and she had been trying, unsuccessfully, to lose weight since coming of HRT 8 years ago.
We both stopped having any alcohol (sorry that's the bad bit) and we can eat as much as we like as long as we don't mix Starch and Protein, in the same meal. We are supposed to have one of each, 1 x Alkaline, 1 x Starch and 1 Protein meal a day. All vegetables, herbs and spices are neutral as is butter and cream and fruit should be eaten separately. I've also cut out tea and coffee and replaced with Barley Cup, Marmite (tsp. in cup of boiling water, lots of vit. B12) or Oxo as hot drinks, with fruit juice or water as a cold drink. You can buy the book in most book shops or online.

Hi Debtfree I had heard about the leather sofas, weren't they mainly from Argos ? I have got a bit of a rash on my neck at the moment, Im not sure whats caused it but dont think it's clothes and it's definitly not a leather sofa.
Im glad the Hay way suits you, personally my diets complicated enough as it , and the trouble with Fibro is what helps one person wont help another. Ive had Fibro almost 13 years and havn't found anything that helps, so Ive given up trying new things now.

LW Good luck with the pub quiz hun, I'll be thinking of you

Unity if your out there, Ive finished book 2 and will get it sent of asap.

  • Hi all - I'm back but knackered. Didn't get back to hotel til gone 3 this morning and only just got back home.

Did see the lights, but not a spectacular display. Still awesome though. Airport was quite a trial - queueing up for 25 mins for security check etc, but it's behind me noe.

Though about you all and I'll post again when I'm a bit more alert.
    Hugs to all

Welcome back CwtA. Rest first, post later, OK?

I've been making candles this afternoon, so I'll have my own little lights display, but nothing as wonderful as the Northern Lights.:D
